Overview
The Perko 0927DP0CHR is a mortise lock set with bolt for marine doors where a flush, built-in lock is preferred over a surface-mounted latch. It fits doors from 1" to 1-3/8" thick, with a 2-3/4" x 2" case and a 4-3/8" x 1-1/4" escutcheon, making it a practical fit check for cabin doors, heads, companionway-adjacent doors, and interior boat cabinetry where lockable access matters.
The set uses chrome plated zinc alloy and locks from the inside with a turn button or from the outside with a key. During installation, the bevel can be reversed, which helps the lock work with different door swing arrangements without changing the main hardware style.
Key features
- Mortise lock set with bolt for marine door and cabin hardware applications.
- Fits door thicknesses from 1" to 1-3/8", a key measurement to confirm before cutting or replacing existing hardware.
- Chrome plated zinc alloy construction gives the lock set a polished finish suited to visible cabin and cockpit-adjacent installations.
- Inside turn button and outside keyed operation support privacy and controlled access from either side of the door.
- Reversible bevel helps the installer adapt the lock during installation for inward or outward opening doors.
- Uses #6 screws, useful when matching existing fasteners or planning a clean replacement.
Installation and fit
This is a mortise-style lock, so the door needs a prepared pocket for the case rather than a simple face-mounted latch installation. For a replacement job, compare the existing cutout, case size, escutcheon footprint, and door thickness before ordering. For a new installation, careful layout matters because the escutcheon and face alignment affect both the look of the finished door and how cleanly the bolt engages.
The reversible bevel is helpful on boats where door swing direction and frame geometry can vary from one cabin to another. Dry-fitting the lock, checking the swing, and confirming bolt engagement before final fastening will usually save time and prevent binding.
Use on board
This lock set makes sense for boat owners replacing worn cabin hardware or fitting out a door that needs keyed access from the outside and privacy control from the inside. It is most relevant for interior or protected locations where a chrome plated mortise lock matches the surrounding marine hardware and where the door thickness falls within the specified range.
