Overview
The Garmin 010-12098-10 is a 12-pin right-angle transducer adapter cable that is 23.6 inches (0.6 m) long. It gives the transducer plug a tighter turn behind a flush-mounted chartplotter or inside a crowded electronics box, so the connector is not forced into a hard bend.
It supports Garmin and Airmar 12-pin transducers that use XID, and it can be used as a short, service-friendly link in the transducer run or as a replacement connection lead where a right-angle plug makes the install cleaner.
Key features
- 23.6-inch (0.6 m) adapter length for adding slack without rerouting the full transducer cable
- Right-angle 12-pin connector for installations with limited clearance behind a display or sonar module
- Compatible with Garmin and Airmar (with XID) 12-pin transducers
- Useful as a short jumper at the transducer port when servicing or rearranging electronics
- Helps reduce connector strain from tight bends, vibration, and cable pull
Compatibility and fit
This cable is for systems that use Garmin-style 12-pin transducer connections. Confirm the pin count and connector style on both your transducer and the device it plugs into before ordering, since Garmin installations also exist with 8-pin and other transducer connectors.
For Airmar installs, this is intended for models that support XID on a 12-pin connection.
Installation and setup
Plan the cable path so the connector lands with a gentle bend and enough slack to remove the display or access the sonar module later. When connecting, align the keyed plug and seat it fully before tightening the collar by hand.
Support the cable near the connector so the plug is not carrying weight or being tugged when the boat is pounding. Keep the connection area as dry as practical inside the helm or electronics compartment.
Use cases on board
This adapter is commonly used behind tight helm panels on center consoles and cruisers, and inside consoles where the transducer cable needs to make a sharp turn right at the back of the unit. It is also a practical choice when reworking a sonar black box install and you want a short segment that can be replaced without pulling the full transducer cable again.
Maintenance and care
Check the connector periodically for looseness and for any sign of salt buildup or corrosion on the pins. If the area gets salt spray, a quick fresh-water rinse and dry-off during routine cleaning helps keep connections trouble-free.
