Overview

The Garmin 010-11010-22 is a 1 kW thru-hull transducer with a 0° tilted element and an 8-pin Garmin connector for traditional 50/200 kHz depth sounding plus water temperature. It’s a good match when you want the performance of a 1 kW transducer but need a housing that stays close to the hull surface.

This 0° version is meant for mounting locations with 0° to 7° of hull deadrise, so the beam is aimed straight down once the unit is installed. At 50 kHz the beam is 22° x 20° for wider coverage, and at 200 kHz it tightens to 6° x 6° for stronger detail and bottom tracking.

The bronze housing extends less than 6.35 mm (0.25 in) below the hull, which helps on planing boats and trailered boats where protrusion is a concern. Plan on a 95 mm (3-3/4 in) cutout and a 10 m (33 ft) cable run back to your sounder.

Compatibility and fit

This is a bronze thru-hull model intended for fiberglass or wood hulls. The 0° tilt is the key fit check: measure deadrise at the exact mounting spot, not at the transom. If that area is steeper than 7°, the beam will no longer be aimed straight down and you will typically want a different tilt angle.

On the electronics side, confirm your sonar module or display supports a 1 kW, 50/200 kHz transducer and has the matching Garmin 8-pin transducer port. If your Garmin sounder uses a 6-pin port, plan on the appropriate adapter so the connector and pinout match.

Installation and setup

Thru-hull installs are permanent and worth laying out carefully. The mounting location needs clean water flow under the hull, with the transducer kept continuously submerged and clear of strakes, intakes, and anything that creates bubbles at speed.

The transducer uses a 95 mm (3-3/4 in) hole and is secured with a hull nut from inside. Leave enough interior clearance to fit the spacer and tighten the nut, then bed the housing with a below-waterline marine sealant and check for leaks right after launch. Route the cable where it won’t get chafed and keep it away from high-current wiring when possible to reduce interference.

Use on board

This setup fits boats that spend time trolling, running to offshore grounds, or working structure where you want a stronger return than typical 600 W transducers. The 50 kHz side is the go-to when you are hunting deeper water, while 200 kHz helps when you want a tighter cone and clearer separation on shallower structure.

If you trailer frequently and don’t want a fairing block hanging below the hull, the low protrusion is one of the main reasons people run this style of transducer on center consoles and sportfishing boats.

Maintenance and care

Like any thru-hull transducer, performance drops fast when growth builds on the face. Keep the acoustic face clean and use only water-based antifouling paint on the surfaces exposed to seawater. Avoid harsh solvents during cleanup, and recheck the installation area periodically for any signs of movement or seepage.
