Overview
The Simrad 000-00020-001 is a ST10 SimNet programming tool kit that links a SimNet network to a computer over USB so you can load software into SimNet units through the network.
It is used when you need a direct service connection to the backbone for updates during commissioning, troubleshooting, or keeping older SimNet installations current. On boats that use an NMEA 2000 backbone with Micro-C connectors, this can be used with a SimNet to NMEA 2000 cable, which is not included.
Key features
- Loads software into SimNet units through the network.
- Connects the SimNet network to a computer via USB for update work.
- Works in installations that bridge SimNet and NMEA 2000 when used with a SimNet to NMEA 2000 cable (not included).
- USB cable is included for the computer connection.
- Lets you handle updates from one connection point instead of disconnecting individual devices.
Compatibility and fit
This kit is meant for SimNet networks and SimNet-based equipment that accepts software loading over the network. Confirm you have access to the SimNet backbone and the correct network cabling for your boat before starting, especially if your system is primarily NMEA 2000 and needs a SimNet adapter cable.
A computer with a USB port is required. Plan to perform update work at the dock with stable boat power, since interruptions during a software load can create extra recovery steps.
Installation and setup
Connect the ST10 interface to the SimNet network, then connect the USB lead to your computer. With the boat electronics powered and the network active, follow the update steps for the specific SimNet units on board and allow the process to complete before cycling power.
What's included
- ST10 SimNet programming interface (CAN to USB converter)
- USB cable
Use cases on board
This is a practical fit for owners maintaining an existing SimNet backbone, as well as installers and service techs who regularly work on SimNet-equipped boats. It is also useful during refits where older SimNet devices are staying in place and need software attention without rewiring the whole network.
