Overview
The Vimar VM08370 is a 1-pole fuse carrier rated 16 A at 250 V~ that accepts miniature cylindrical fuses in 5 x 20 mm and 6.3 x 32 mm sizes. It gives you a clean, serviceable fuse point where you need to protect a single conductor in an onboard electrical circuit, such as inside a switch panel or distribution enclosure.
The fuse is not included, so you can match the fuse type and rating to the circuit you are protecting. Since it is a 1-pole carrier, it is intended for single-conductor protection and it does not switch the neutral conductor.
Key features
- Rated 16 A, 250 V~ for protected circuits up to the listed limits
- Accepts two common miniature fuse formats: 5 x 20 mm and 6.3 x 32 mm
- 1-pole fuse carrier for protecting one conductor; neutral is not switched
- Supplied without a fuse so the circuit protection can be selected to suit the application
- Built for integration with Vimar 8000 Series wiring devices and panel layouts
Compatibility and fit
This fuse carrier is part of the Vimar 8000 Series device range. It is meant to be installed within the matching 8000 Series mounting system used in panels and enclosures, so it keeps your switchgear layout consistent when you are adding or replacing protection points.
Before ordering, confirm that your installation uses the Vimar 8000 Series and that your preferred fuse size is either 5 x 20 mm or 6.3 x 32 mm. If your design calls for fusing more than one conductor, plan on additional protection points rather than relying on a single 1-pole carrier.
Installation and setup
Install in a dry, protected location inside a panel or enclosure where the fuse can be accessed for inspection and replacement. As with any fuse holder on a boat, clean terminations, correct conductor sizing, and secure strain relief matter as much as the device itself, especially where vibration and humidity are part of daily life.
De-energize the circuit before wiring or servicing, and verify the fuse type and rating match the circuit design. After installation, check for any signs of heating at the connections during initial use.
Use on board
This is a good match for refits that keep the Vimar 8000 Series look and want a dedicated, easy-to-service fuse point in a helm console, cabin switch panel, or equipment cabinet. It is also handy when you need a clean way to add fuse protection to a single feed within a broader onboard electrical system.
Maintenance and care
Keep a spare of the correct fuse size on board and replace only with the same type and rating used in the circuit design. Periodically inspect the carrier and nearby wiring for corrosion, discoloration, or loosened terminations, since these are common early warnings of resistance and heat buildup.
