Overview

The Vimar VM01975 is a DIN-rail lighting actuator that sends a 1-10 VDC control signal (30 mA max) to dim compatible LED drivers, and it also includes a 2.5 A 120-230 V AC changeover relay for switching the circuit when needed.

It uses a 120-230 V AC auxiliary supply (50/60 Hz) and connects to a TP BUS line (29 V) for system control. This marine version has been submitted to cyclic salt mist and vibration testing, which is useful when the equipment cabinet lives on a boat that sees constant movement and salty air.

This is an indoor, panel-mounted device (IP20) intended for protected locations like an electrical locker, helm cabinet, or technical space, where it can stay dry and shielded from spray.

Compatibility and fit

The 1-10 V output is meant for LED drivers with a standard 1-10 V dimming input. The total control input current of the connected drivers needs to stay within the actuator’s 30 mA maximum output.

On the system side, it connects to a TP BUS line and is intended for use within the By-me environment. It is not a KNX device and it does not operate over RF control.

Because it uses 120-230 V AC, it belongs on vessels with an AC distribution system. It is not a 12 V or 24 V DC lighting controller.

Installation and wiring notes

Mount the unit on a TH35 DIN rail inside a protected electrical panel with enough space for its 3-module width. Use the dedicated 1-10 V terminals to run the dimming pair to the LED driver, and keep that run within 10 m using twisted cable.

The relay can be used to switch the line feed to the driver or the lighting circuit, but depending on the driver type it may not be necessary to route the phase through the relay. The relay output feeding circuit should be protected against overloads with a fuse or circuit breaker rated no higher than 10 A.

For commissioning, the front configuration button and LED are used during setup on the bus. Once configured, the actuator can be used in groups and scenarios for coordinated lighting control.

Use on board

This actuator is a good match for boats that already have a bus-based lighting control system and need 1-10 V dimming for cabin, salon, or cockpit LED zones powered from 120-230 V AC drivers. It also fits refits where the LED drivers are staying in place and the goal is to add centralized dimming and switching from the panel.

Placement and care

With an IP20 rating, treat it as a cabinet device: mount it in a dry, enclosed location and avoid bilges, washdown zones, and open cockpit voids. Leave room for wiring bends and normal panel ventilation, and keep salt residue from building up inside the enclosure over time.
