Overview
The Vimar VM01471 is a multifunction programmable actuator that gives you four relay outputs for switching onboard loads. Each output is a 16 A change-over relay for 120-230 V~ circuits, so it can be set up for lighting, blind or shutter slat orientation, and fan-coil control when used within a compatible automation system.
It mounts on a standard DIN rail (60715 TH35) and takes up 4 modules of 17.5 mm each, which helps keep a panel layout predictable during refits or new builds. With an IP20 protection rating, it belongs inside a dry, enclosed electrical cabinet or distribution panel rather than anywhere exposed to spray, washdowns, or bilge moisture.
Key features
- 4 programmable change-over relay outputs, rated 16 A per relay
- Switching for 120-230 V~ circuits
- DIN rail installation (60715 TH35) with a 4-module footprint (4 x 17.5 mm)
- Local push-buttons for on-unit operation and service checks
- Bus connection for integration with the By-me home automation environment
- IP20 protection rating for installation inside protected panels
Installation and setup
Plan for a DIN-rail position inside the boat’s electrical cabinet where wiring can be dressed cleanly and kept away from heat sources. The 4-module width makes it straightforward to line up alongside breakers, power supplies, and other DIN devices.
The local push-buttons are useful during commissioning and troubleshooting when you need to verify wiring and load response at the panel without relying on the automation interface.
Electrical and system integration
This unit switches AC loads (120-230 V~) through change-over relay contacts. A change-over relay gives you both normally-open and normally-closed behavior from the same channel, which can matter when you need a default state or interlock behavior in a boat system.
Match each output to the real load current and how the load behaves at startup, then protect the circuit appropriately in the panel. Keep terminations tight and well-supported so vibration does not work connections loose over time.
Use cases on board
Common uses include switching lighting circuits, driving paired outputs for blind or shutter movement with slat orientation functions, and controlling fan-coil stages within a networked control scheme. It is a good match for yachts that already use the By-me automation environment and want a DIN-rail relay module to bring multiple AC loads under centralized control while still keeping local access at the panel.
Maintenance and care
Because it is IP20, keep it in a clean, dry enclosure and avoid mounting locations where condensation or water ingress is likely. As part of routine electrical checks, re-torque terminals and inspect wiring support, especially after heavy-weather runs or long periods of vibration.
