Overview

The Vimar IDEA Series is a modular 230 V AC buzzer for acoustic signaling in protected interior electrical installations. It runs at 50-60 Hz, draws 8 VA and 0.03 A, and produces a 75 dB alert tone, which makes it suitable for local audible indication at a panel or control point.

This unit belongs to the Vimar IDEA device range, so it fits projects that already use IDEA-series mechanisms, frames, and cover plates. Its plastic housing and IP30 protection place it in dry interior locations rather than exposed deck, washdown, or spray-prone areas.

On board, this type of buzzer makes sense where the vessel has a 230 V AC service and the signaling point is inside the accommodation or another sheltered space. It is not a 12 V or 24 V DC alarm device, and it does not include a built-in transformer.

The finish changes between variants, while the verified electrical and acoustic characteristics remain the same at 230 V~ 50-60 Hz, 8 VA, 0.03 A, IP30, and 75 dB.

• VM16408: Grey color. This version matches grey IDEA devices and suits installations where a darker device face is already being used across the panel.
• VM16408.B: White color. This version matches white IDEA devices and keeps the visible finish consistent on lighter switch and control assemblies.

Compatibility and fit

This buzzer is a good match for refit or new-build work where the electrical fit-out already uses Vimar IDEA components. For marine applications, that usually means interior cabin panels, utility spaces, or other sheltered control points tied into the vessel's 230 V AC distribution.

Because the housing is rated IP30, it is better suited to enclosed locations where it is protected from direct spray, salt exposure, and heavy washdowns. Where an installation point is exposed to weather or frequent moisture, a higher protection level would normally be needed.

Installation and onboard use

The unit is intended for AC signaling duty and should be treated as part of the vessel's fixed electrical installation. It fits best where an audible call, alert, or status indication is needed close to the device location rather than as a long-range warning sounder for open exterior spaces.

It is a practical option for boats and yachts with shore-power style accommodation circuits, especially when the rest of the switchgear is already built around the IDEA platform.
