Overview
The Vimar VM02144 is an E27 lampholder with a threaded skirt and a brass finish for portable-style installations and classic marine light fittings. It’s the component that holds an E27 lamp base and brings your wiring safely into the fixture.
Mounting is done via an M10 x 1 nipple with a locking screw, which is useful when the holder passes through a canopy, bracket, or threaded tube and you want it to stay put under vibration. The cap includes an earth terminal for grounding when the fixture is wired with a protective earth conductor.
The dome and threaded jacket are zinc-plated steel with a polished surface and brass-color appearance, which suits enclosed or sheltered locations on board where you want a traditional look without switching away from E27 lamps.
Key features
- E27 Edison-screw lampholder for standard E27-base lamps
- M10 x 1 nipple mount with locking screw to help resist loosening from vibration
- Threaded skirt for fixtures that rely on a threaded jacket to secure the holder body
- Earth terminal on the cap for grounding continuity through the fitting
- Zinc-plated steel dome and threaded jacket with a polished surface and brass finish
Compatibility and fit
Fits lamps with an E27 base. The M10 x 1 nipple is the key measurement to check against your existing canopy, bracket, or threaded tube hardware. If your current fitting uses a threaded jacket or skirt to clamp a shade, collar, or retaining parts, this style matches that mounting approach.
Before ordering, confirm there is enough internal space for the lamp you plan to use and that the rest of the fixture provides proper strain relief for the cable. Also verify your lamp and fixture ratings match the supply you’re using on board.
Installation and setup
Mount the holder through the fixture opening using the M10 x 1 nipple and lock it in place so the body cannot rotate when changing bulbs. Terminate the protective earth conductor to the earth terminal on the cap when your wiring system includes it, then connect the remaining conductors per the fixture’s wiring layout.
On boats, it helps to re-check fasteners after the first few runs and periodically afterward, since vibration can slowly work threaded parts loose if the fixture is not clamped firmly.
Materials and corrosion resistance
The visible metal parts are zinc-plated steel with a brass-color finish. In a salt environment, this type of finish lasts best inside a housing or under a shade where it is not taking direct spray. If the fitting is in a damp area, keep the assembly dry when possible and inspect the earth terminal and connections for early signs of corrosion.
Use cases on board
This lampholder is a practical replacement when an older E27 socket in a cabin pendant, saloon light, or classic-style fixture has become loose or the terminals are tired, but you want to keep the existing canopy and hardware. It also suits new builds that want an E27 socket with an M10 x 1 mount and a defined earth termination point as part of the fixture wiring.
Maintenance and care
During seasonal checks, confirm the holder is still tight at the mount, the earth terminal is secure, and the wiring insulation shows no heat damage or chafe. If the fixture is opened for service, clean contacts and re-terminate any conductors that show darkening or looseness.
