Overview
The Vimar VM01645 is a coaxial TV-RD-SAT female connector with axial cable entry for RG 59 75 Ohm systems. It is used to terminate a coax run and present an IEC 60169-2 female connection point where you need a neat, insulated outlet for TV, radio, or satellite signal distribution on board.
On boats, this style of connector is typically fitted in protected interior areas such as behind a cabin TV, inside an electronics locker, or at a bulkhead outlet where the cable needs to exit straight out without a right-angle elbow.
Key features
- IEC 60169-2 female coax connector with axial cable entry
- Made for RG 59 coax cable and a 75 Ohm impedance
- Insulated mounting to help keep the connector isolated from nearby conductive surfaces
- Straight cable exit (non-elbow) to reduce bend stress and help routing behind panels
- White finish that blends with most cabin and console interiors
Compatibility and fit
This connector is intended for 75 Ohm coax installations using RG 59 cable and the IEC 60169-2 style plug interface. Before ordering, confirm the connector style on your equipment and patch leads, since satellite and TV systems can also be built around other coax standards.
Installation and setup
Plan the install so the connector sits in a dry, protected location, and secure the coax run so vibration does not load the termination point. When preparing RG 59, keep the braid/shield tidy and make sure the centre conductor stays isolated from the shield to avoid intermittent signal loss.
On boats, a simple service loop and proper strain relief go a long way. If the connector is near a hatch, window, or washdown zone, route the cable with a drip loop and keep the connection out of direct spray.
Use on board
This is a good fit for refits or new installs where you want a consistent, IEC-style coax endpoint for onboard entertainment or antenna feeds in the cabin, saloon, or nav station. It also works well when you are standardising coax terminations across multiple outlets so spares and patch leads stay predictable.
Maintenance and care
Periodically check the connection for looseness, salt residue, or early corrosion, especially in coastal environments. If you ever see oxidation on the conductor or shielding, re-terminate the cable end and keep the area clean and dry to protect signal quality.
