Overview
The Vimar VM01634 is a TV/RD/SAT male coax connector with a 90° cable entry for 75 ohm RG 59 installations in tight spaces. It is used to terminate coax where you need the plug to sit close to the back of equipment or a panel, without forcing a sharp bend in the cable.
On boats, this style is often used behind TVs, stereo tuners, satellite receivers, splitters, or distribution points tucked inside cabinets and bulkheads. The connector is finished in white and supports insulated mounting, which helps keep the termination separated from nearby conductive surfaces in compact installations.
Key features
- TV/RD/SAT male coax connector for 75 ohm systems
- 90° cable entry to reduce strain where clearance is limited behind panels and equipment
- For RG 59 coax cable
- Insulated mounting support for cleaner installs around metal structures and crowded wiring
- White finish to blend with light-colored interiors and service panels
Compatibility and fit
This connector is intended for 75 ohm coax runs using RG 59 cable. Confirm the mating side on your equipment or wall plate is the matching IEC 60169-2 interface, and that you have enough clearance for the 90° exit direction once the cable is dressed and secured.
If your boat is wired with a different coax type (such as thicker TV coax), match the connector to the cable size first to avoid a loose shield connection or a compressed dielectric that can degrade reception.
Installation and setup
Plan the cable route so the 90° exit points toward the natural cable run, not against it. Prep the RG 59 carefully so the braid stays even and does not touch the center conductor, then seat the dielectric fully before closing the connector.
After termination, support the coax close to the connector with proper strain relief so vibration and repeated access behind the panel do not work the connection loose over time.
On-board use notes
This connector is a good match for refits and new installs where TV, radio, or satellite coax needs to turn immediately behind a bulkhead-mounted outlet or the back of a TV. It is also handy when equipment is mounted close to a liner or cabinet wall and the cable needs to exit sideways without kinking.
For marine longevity, keep coax terminations in protected spaces where possible, and avoid leaving unsealed coax connections in damp lockers or exposed areas where salt air can reach the contact surfaces.
