Overview

The Vimar Plana Series MASTER dimmer is a flush-mounted lighting control for 120-230 V~ 50-60 Hz circuits that use incandescent lamps or ferromagnetic transformers. It uses TRIAC dimming, works from its built-in push button, and can also be operated from peripheral NO push buttons when the same light needs control from more than one point.

For marine interiors, this fits protected AC installations where panel space is limited and the finish needs to stay consistent with other Plana devices. The body measures 22.3 x 49 x 54.8 mm and carries an IP40 rating, so it belongs in sheltered spaces such as cabins, saloons, and other enclosed areas rather than locations exposed to spray or washdowns.

The published load ranges are 40-500/40-800 W for incandescent lamps and 40-300/40-500 VA for ferromagnetic transformers. That makes it a practical match for AC lighting circuits built around those load types, especially where smooth dimming is needed without changing the look of the switch panel.

Variants

This product is offered in two finish options within the same Plana MASTER dimmer format.

Across the listed variants, the electrical format, control method, TRIAC dimming system, flush mounting, IP40 rating, and device dimensions remain the same. The visible difference is the finish and color used to match the surrounding plate and trim.

• VM14148, Color White. This version suits panels and switch positions that already use white Plana components.
• VM14148.SL, Color Silver. This version uses a silver finish for installations where silver-toned trim is already part of the switch layout.

Compatibility and fit

This dimmer should be matched to the circuit before installation. It is intended for 120-230 V~ AC systems and for the load types listed above, so it is not a general replacement for low-voltage DC lighting controls or for every LED dimming setup found on board.

It makes sense in cabins, saloons, and other protected interior spaces where the vessel already uses Vimar Plana devices or where a flush wall control is being added to an AC lighting circuit. It also works well where one lighting circuit needs local control at the dimmer and additional control points through peripheral NO push buttons.

Installation and setup

The click-in body and flush-mounted layout help keep the front of the panel clean once the device is fitted into the matching Plana system. On a boat, that is useful in interior joinery and switch panels where a neat, low-profile finish matters as much as the electrical function.

Because this is line-voltage equipment, the lamp type and load range should be checked before the panel is closed up. The IP40 rating also points it toward enclosed locations where it will stay protected from direct weather and routine washdown exposure.
