Overview

The Vimar Eikon 20148 master dimmer push button is a flush-mounted lighting control for 120 to 230 V AC circuits, with TRIAC dimming for 40 to 500 W loads at 120 V or 40 to 800 W at 230 V. It also supports ferromagnetic transformers for low-voltage halogen lamps at 40 to 300 VA on 120 V systems and 40 to 500 VA on 230 V systems.

On board, this suits protected interior spaces where the lighting circuit matches those load types, such as cabins, saloons, or companionway areas with conventional incandescent or halogen fittings. The built-in push button handles local dimming, and the unit can also be operated from peripheral NO push buttons from several points.

The body is thermoplastic with a matte finish, the device measures 22.3 x 49 x 52.4 mm, and the protection rating is IP40. It is specified for dry, dust-free locations between 0 C and +35 C, so it fits best in interior switch positions rather than exposed deck, cockpit, or washdown areas.

This product is offered in three color configurations under the Eikon 20148 range.

Across the listed variants, the change is the visible finish. The dimmer format, voltage range, load handling, push-button control, and flush-mounted layout stay the same.

• VM20148.B: Color White. This finish keeps the control light in appearance on white or pale cabin panels.
• VM20148.N: Color Silver. This finish gives the unit a metallic look that pairs neatly with modern interior trim.
• VM20148: Color Grey. This finish sits more quietly against darker switch surrounds and utility spaces.

Compatibility and fit

This dimmer is meant for incandescent and halogen lamps, plus ferromagnetic transformers for very low voltage halogen circuits. It is not a general-purpose controller for every lighting technology, so it should be matched carefully to the load already installed on the vessel.

The stored light level returns when the load is switched off and back on again unless mains power has been interrupted. In cabins and saloons, that helps keep lighting behavior consistent without resetting the level each time.

Installation and setup

Installation is flush-mounted with click-in fastening. For control from several points, the MASTER dimmer can be paired with standard NO push buttons in parallel, and for broader control layouts it can work with up to four SLAVE dimmers with the total load shared across the connected devices.

The specified connection uses a fuse carrier with a quick-acting F5AH 250 V fuse. This is an AC mains device, so installation and load checks should be handled by a qualified electrician who can confirm voltage, lamp type, transformer type, and the suitability of the mounting location on board.

Use on board

This is a good match for boats that use conventional AC cabin lighting and want dimming from one point or from multiple switch locations. It makes the most sense in protected interior living spaces where gradual light changes are welcome at night and the circuit is built around supported lamp loads.
