Overview
The Vimar VM03250 is a 110 connecting tool for seating 110 type twisted cable into insulation-piercing terminals used in structured wiring blocks and patch panels.
It is suitable for RJ plug terminations, MT-RJ plug terminations, and low-current connectors. Supplied as a single tool, the packaged size is 3.3 x 18.3 x 3.3 cm and the packaged weight is about 128.2 g, which makes it easy to keep in a service kit on board for comms and network work at the nav station or inside a protected tech cabinet.
Key features
- Used to connect 110 type twisted cable to insulation-piercing terminals
- Suitable for RJ plug terminations in structured cabling hardware
- Suitable for MT-RJ plug terminations
- Suitable for low-current connectors
- No cutting device and no strip function, so cable prep and trimming are handled with separate tools
- No interlock device, keeping operation straightforward when seating conductors into IDC terminals
Installation and setup
Prepare the cable first by stripping the jacket to the length required by the block or module, then lay each conductor into the correct slot before seating it with the tool. Since there is no cutting or stripping function, keep a clean workflow for trimming and labeling so the termination area stays serviceable.
On a vessel, route and secure the cable run so the pair bundle is not pulling against the terminal field. Leave a small service loop in the cabinet and add strain relief where the cable enters the panel area, especially in locations that see vibration underway.
Compatibility and fit
This tool is intended for 110 type twisted-pair terminations that use insulation-piercing contact technology. It is not meant for connector types outside its stated RJ, MT-RJ, and low-current connector use, including formats such as BNC, F-type, D-Sub, or common fiber connector styles like ST, SC, or LC.
Maintenance and care
Wipe the tool down after use, especially if it has been handled with salty or wet hands, and store it in a dry kit box. If it will live on board long-term, keep it out of direct spray zones and away from bilge humidity.
Who it suits
A practical fit for anyone building or maintaining structured low-voltage cabling on board, including network and phone runs that land on 110 style insulation-piercing terminals in a sheltered distribution area.
