Overview
The Vimar Net Safe is a modular RJ45 socket outlet for onboard data and telecommunications wiring, offered with a port labeled RJ45 Cat6 UTP or a port labeled RJ45 Keystone, and finished in White, Gray, or Silver.
It uses an unshielded Cat6 interface with T568A/T568B universal wiring and 8 contacts, with insulation-piercing terminals and an anti-dust cover at the outlet face.
On a boat, this is a practical way to bring an Ethernet drop to a helm console, nav station, or cabin bulkhead when you are building an IP network for routers, switches, PCs, cameras, or other gear that uses RJ45 patch leads.
Key features
- RJ45 socket outlet for data and telecommunications runs on board
- Port option labeled RJ45 Cat6 UTP (unshielded) for Cat6 terminations
- Port option labeled RJ45 Keystone for keystone-format RJ45 installations
- T568A/T568B universal wiring support
- 8-contact connector interface
- Insulation-piercing terminals for conductor termination
- Anti-dust cover to help keep the contact area cleaner between uses
- Available face colors: White, Gray, and Silver
Variants
Configurations vary by face color (White, Gray, or Silver) and by port style listed as RJ45 Cat6 UTP or RJ45 Keystone.
The port style affects how the cabling is terminated and how the connection is presented at the face of the outlet, so it should match the cabling hardware used elsewhere in the boat.
Installation and setup
Plan the wiring scheme before terminating. Keep the same pinout standard (T568A or T568B) at both ends of each run so links come up cleanly.
Route cable so the outlet sits in a protected location and the jacket is supported behind the module. Leave a small service loop and avoid sharp bends, chafe points, and areas that see direct spray or frequent washdowns.
Compatibility and fit
This outlet is intended for Ethernet-style RJ45 connections used for onboard networks. Match the port option to your termination method and to the hardware used in patch panels, switches, and other outlets.
Because this is a modular component, confirm it matches the Net Safe mounting system and the plate or frame you are using at the installation location.
Use cases on board
It suits boats running Cat6 cabling between the nav station, helm, and an electronics locker where a router or network switch lives. It also fits refits where you want a clean, labeled connection point for service laptops or IP-based accessories.
Maintenance and care
Keep the outlet face clean and the cover closed when the port is not in use. In humid interiors, check terminations during routine electrical inspections and address any signs of corrosion in surrounding hardware.
