Overview
The Vimar VM14609 is a 5-module mounting frame for British Standard (BS) rectangular mounting boxes in the Plana series. It screws to the box and gives you a fixed, aligned base for installing Plana modular inserts behind a matching 5-module cover plate.
On board, this is the part that keeps a multi-gang switch or outlet group sitting straight on a bulkhead, nav station panel, or cabin entry wall, especially where vibration and day-to-day use can work loose a poorly supported fit. The frame can be installed in horizontal or vertical orientation, so the module layout can follow the space you have.
This is a mechanical mounting component, not a sealed enclosure. Plan to use it in protected interior locations or inside a dry electrical panel area where the installed devices and cover plate are appropriate for the environment.

Compatibility and fit
Confirm you are working with a BS rectangular back box and a 5-module Plana layout before ordering. This frame is intended to hold Plana modular inserts in the correct spacing so the finished cover plate sits evenly without binding.
If you are replacing an existing frame, check the box style, screw positions, and the number of modules on the front plate. Mixing box standards is the most common reason frames do not line up during a refit.
Installation and setup
Mount the frame to the back box using the supplied screws, then install the modular inserts from the front side as your layout requires. Once the inserts are seated and aligned, the matching cover plate can be fitted to finish the face.
Do not overtighten frame screws. A snug fit that holds the frame flat against the box helps keep modules aligned and reduces stress on the cover plate.
Use on board
This frame is a good match for owners and installers building a clean switch bank or modular outlet group in cabins, heads, galleys, or nav areas where a BS-format back box is used. It is also useful in refits where you are standardizing multiple interior control points on the same Plana module system.
Maintenance and care
During seasonal checks, confirm the frame screws remain tight and the cover plate sits flush after any panel work. Clean with a mild cleaner and a soft cloth, and avoid aggressive solvents that can haze plastics.
