Overview
The Garmin NSAE021R is an electronic chart coverage area for the Philippines that runs on compatible Garmin chartplotters through Garmin Navionics+ or Garmin Navionics Vision+.
Coverage includes the Philippine Islands plus islands of Micronesia, including the Marianas, Palau, Guam, Saipan and Wake Island. A one-year subscription is included so you can pull daily chart updates through the ActiveCaptain app during the subscription period.
On Navionics+ you can use depth range shading with up to 10 color-shaded target depth ranges, plus shallow water shading and up to 1-foot contours where supported in the data. Auto Guidance+ can generate a suggested dock-to-dock route using your selected depth and overhead clearance settings, and it should be treated as a planning aid alongside normal navigation practices. Vision+ adds extra map layers such as high-resolution relief shading, satellite imagery overlays, aerial photography, 3D views, and dynamic lake level features where available.
Key features
- Chart region for the Philippines with coastal coverage that also includes Micronesia island groups such as the Marianas, Palau, Guam, Saipan and Wake Island
- One-year subscription included for daily chart updates through the ActiveCaptain app
- Depth range shading with up to 10 target depth ranges, plus shallow water shading for quick visual checks in skinny water
- Up to 1-foot contours where supported, helping you read bottom shape when running tight reef lines or working structure
- Auto Guidance+ suggested routing based on your depth and overhead clearance settings on compatible chartplotters
- Vision+ versions add premium layers such as relief shading, satellite imagery overlays, aerial photography, and 3D views where available
- Available as a preloaded microSD/SD card or as a download delivered through Garmin Express, depending on the variant
Variants
This chart region is offered in multiple configurations, depending on whether you want Garmin Navionics+ or Garmin Navionics Vision+, and whether you prefer a preloaded microSD/SD card or a download.
The main differences between options are the chart version (Navionics+ vs Vision+) and the delivery format (microSD/SD vs download). All options are for the same Philippines region coverage, and each purchase includes a one-year subscription period for updates and downloads during that time.
- 010-C1219-20: Garmin Navionics+ on microSD/SD. Installs by inserting the card into the chartplotter’s card slot and selecting the chart content on the display.
- 010-D1821-20: Garmin Navionics+ as a download. Delivered through Garmin Express, then written to a compatible memory card for use in the chartplotter.
- 010-D1821-00: Garmin Navionics Vision+ as a download. Delivered through Garmin Express and supports Vision+ premium layers where available for the region.
- 010-C1219-00: Garmin Navionics Vision+ on microSD/SD. Installs by inserting the card into the chartplotter, with additional Vision+ layers available where supported.
Installation and updates
For the microSD/SD versions, insert the card into the chartplotter’s card slot and set the chart as your active map source. For the download versions, use Garmin Express on a computer to download the chart content and load it onto a compatible memory card for your unit.
During the included one-year subscription, updates are handled through the ActiveCaptain app. Keeping the chartplotter software current helps ensure the chart layers, depth shading, and routing features show up as expected.
Compatibility and fit
This product is intended for compatible Garmin chartplotters. Before you commit, confirm your display supports Garmin Navionics+ and or Garmin Navionics Vision+ content and that you have the right type of card slot for microSD/SD, or the ability to use a Garmin Express download workflow.
Some features, including Auto Guidance+ and premium Vision+ layers like satellite imagery overlays and 3D views, depend on chartplotter model and settings. If your boat runs multiple displays, verify how your system handles chart cards and whether you plan to move the card between units.
Use cases on board
This chart coverage is a practical fit for coastal cruising, inter-island runs, and fishing trips around the Philippines, and for routing and planning when transiting through nearby Micronesia island groups included in the region.
It suits skippers who want day-to-day chart updates without replacing a card every season, and crews who use depth shading to keep target depths visible when working structure or approaching unfamiliar harbors.
