Overview
The Garmin BlueChart g3 is an electronic chart option for compatible Garmin chartplotters, covering VEU047R (Gulf of Bothnia, Kalix to Grisslehamn).
Coverage includes detailed coastal areas from Gävle, Sweden through Pori, Finland, with key ports and approaches around Oulu and Vaasa, plus Swedish coverage around Luleå Skärgård. This region is offered as standard BlueChart g3 or BlueChart g3 Vision mapping, and you can get it either on a card or as a download.
BlueChart g3 includes navigation charts with depth contours and fishing (bathymetric) detail, plus tidal stations and currents where available for the area. BlueChart g3 Vision keeps those same core charts and adds extras like 3D views and aerial or satellite imagery overlays for more visual context when you are entering harbors, running unfamiliar stretches, or scouting structure.
Key features
- VEU047R coverage for the Gulf of Bothnia, Kalix to Grisslehamn (Sweden and Finland coastal waters)
- Integrated Garmin and Navionics chart content for combined coverage and chart detail
- Includes depth contours and fishing (bathymetric) detail, plus tides and currents where available
- Auto Guidance route suggestions on compatible Garmin chartplotters using your entered vessel settings
- Depth Range Shading for up to 10 depth ranges and Shallow Water Shading to highlight your chosen minimum depth
- g3 Vision option adds MarinerEye and FishEye 3D perspectives plus aerial or satellite imagery overlays
Variants
This chart region is offered in multiple configurations, so you can match the chart type (BlueChart g3 or BlueChart g3 Vision) and the delivery format (card or download) to your setup.
All options cover the same VEU047R area. The main differences are the Vision vs. non-Vision feature set and whether you receive a preloaded card or install the download to a microSD or SD card for use in the chartplotter.
- 010-C0783-00: BlueChart g3 Vision, SD Card format. A preloaded card that is ready to insert in the chartplotter’s chart card slot.
- 010-D0453-00: BlueChart g3 Vision, Download format. Installed to a microSD or SD card before it is used at the helm.
- 010-C0783-20: BlueChart g3, SD Card format. Standard BlueChart g3 mapping on a preloaded card for the chart card slot.
- 010-D0296-00: BlueChart g3, Download format. Delivered digitally for installation to a microSD or SD card prior to use.
Compatibility and fit
This chart is for Garmin chartplotters and sounders that support BlueChart g3 or BlueChart g3 Vision mapping. It will not load on non-Garmin displays, and some newer Garmin units that use the newer Garmin Navionics+ mapping format do not accept BlueChart g3 cards.
If you are running more than one display, confirm compatibility for each unit that needs access to the chart region, especially if you have a mix of older and newer Garmin models on board.
Installation and setup
For the card versions, insert the chart card into the chartplotter and use the chart selection controls to view the VEU047R region. Keep the card in the unit when you want this region available at the helm.
For the download versions, install the chart to a microSD or SD card using Garmin software, then insert that card into the chartplotter. Use a clean card dedicated to mapping so the chartplotter reads the data consistently.
Use cases on board
This chart region is a practical fit for boats running the Gulf of Bothnia who want solid local detail for coastal navigation, harbor approaches, and route planning. If you spend time fishing the area, the depth contours and shading tools help you work specific depth bands and follow bottom changes without constantly zooming and panning.
