Overview
The Garmin BlueChart g3 Vision HD VEU471S is an electronic coastal chart covering the southern portion of the Gulf of Bothnia, delivered for use in a compatible Garmin chartplotter. Coverage runs from Iggesund to Öregrund in Sweden and includes areas around Pori and Rauma in Finland, plus Hudiksvall, Gavle, Soderhamn, and Grisslehamn, the lower Dallven from Gysinge to Söderfors, and the island of Åland.
It layers in chart detail built from Garmin and Navionics content and adds planning and visualization tools that matter when you are running tight coastlines. Auto Guidance uses the depth and overhead clearance you set to suggest a route, Depth Range Shading supports up to 10 depth ranges, and Shallow Water Shading lets you shade a user-defined depth so shoals stand out quickly. You also get 1-foot contours and photo and 3-D views that help with orientation around ports, harbors, and marinas. Auto Guidance is for planning only and does not replace safe navigation practices.

Variants
VEU471S is offered in two formats so you can match how you keep charts on board.
The mapped area and chart content stay the same across the range, while the delivery method changes between a preprogrammed card and a download that you install to a card.
- 010-C0815-00: Type: SD Card. Preprogrammed microSD/SD media that you insert in the chartplotter and leave in place while navigating.
- 010-D0413-00: Type: Download. Downloadable chart that you install to a microSD or SD card using Garmin Express before using it in the chartplotter.
Compatibility and fit
This chart is intended for compatible Garmin chartplotters that support BlueChart g3 Vision mapping and have a microSD or SD card slot. Use the region code VEU471S to confirm the coverage matches your cruising area and that your specific plotter model supports this chart format.
On supported Garmin marine networks, the chart can be viewed by compatible chartplotters on the network when a single mapping card is inserted in a compatible chartplotter. With the download format, the chart is unlocked to the device it is registered to, so it needs to be used in that chartplotter for the chart to appear and be shared on the network.
Installation and setup
For the card version, insert the microSD or SD card into the chartplotter and select the chart from the chart setup or chart selection menu. The card needs to remain in the slot for the chart data to stay available.
For the download version, use Garmin Express on a computer to install the chart to a microSD or SD card, then move the card to the chartplotter. Only one chart is installed per card in this workflow, so plan on a dedicated card if you manage multiple regions.
On-water use
Once underway, set your target depth ranges and shallow-water threshold to make the chart match the way you navigate your boat. The 1-foot contours help when you are tracking structure nearshore or working along channel edges, and the satellite and aerial imagery layers can be useful when you are lining up an unfamiliar harbor entrance or picking out marina basins.
This chart is a good match for skippers cruising or fishing in the southern Gulf of Bothnia and for boats that rely on a Garmin chartplotter for day-to-day navigation in an area with frequent islands, shoals, and tight approaches.
