Overview
The TACO Marine V12-0307 is a 3/4" x 1/2" flexible rub rail insert made for finishing and protecting compatible boat rub rail profiles. It installs as a continuous coil insert, giving the rub rail a clean finished face while helping cover fasteners along the hull-to-deck joint.
This insert is offered in multiple lengths and finishes, including chrome-style and solid-color options. The Flex Chrome versions give the look of stainless steel without the labor, weight, or corrosion concerns of metal trim, while the color options help match existing rub rail systems on center consoles, cruisers, runabouts, and other fiberglass boats.
The insert has been tested for salt spray, shock, accelerated weathering, heat and humidity cycling, and freeze cycling. It is a practical replacement choice when the original insert is faded, missing, scuffed, or no longer seated properly in the rub rail channel.
Key features
- 3/4" height and 1/2" width for matching compatible TACO Marine rub rail profiles.
- Flexible insert construction supports installation from a coil instead of rigid straight sections.
- Available in 60', 80', and 88' lengths to suit different hull sizes and replacement jobs.
- Finish options include Chrome, Black Pearl, Gray, Black, Arctic White, and Frosty White.
- Flex Chrome finish gives a stainless-steel appearance without exposed metal fasteners that can rust.
- No-tool installation helps with refit work at the dock, in the yard, or during routine rub rail maintenance.
- Made in the USA and covered by a 5-year limited warranty.
Variants
The V12-0307 range varies by coil length and color or finish. Available lengths include 60', 80', and 88', with finish options that range from chrome-style trim to neutral solid colors for matching existing hull and deck details.
The 3/4" x 1/2" insert size remains consistent across the listed variants, so selection mainly comes down to the length needed for the run and the finish that matches the boat’s rub rail appearance.
Installation and fit
Before ordering, measure the existing insert and confirm that the rub rail channel accepts a 3/4" x 1/2" flexible insert. Rub rail inserts are profile-specific, so the overall boat length alone is not enough to confirm fit.
For replacement work, remove a short section of the old insert and compare its height, width, and seating shape with this profile. Planning the run before installation also helps avoid coming up short around the transom, bow, or tight radius areas.
Use on board
This insert is well suited for owners restoring the look of a worn rub rail, replacing missing trim after dock impact, or refreshing the boat’s exterior during a larger refit. The continuous coil format keeps the finished run cleaner than short sections and helps maintain a tidy line around the hull.
It is a good match for marine environments where the rub rail sees sun, spray, washdowns, and routine contact with docks, fenders, and pilings. The non-metal insert construction also reduces the concern of corrosion staining around the rub rail face.
