Overview
The Lumitec SeaBlaze Mini is a compact, surface-mount underwater light for transoms and bracket surfaces, running on 10-30V DC and sealed to an IP68 rating. The face is 2.98 in in diameter with a low profile depth of about 0.58 in, and output depends on the color configuration, with white producing up to 890 lumens.
The housing is anodized aluminum with a heat tempered glass lens, built for constant immersion and regular washdowns. It is a common fit for skiffs, trailer boats, and dinghies where you want transom lighting without giving up much mounting space.
Key features
- 10-30V DC input for 12V and 24V systems
- IP68 water-sealed construction for continuous underwater use
- Anodized aluminum housing with a heat tempered glass lens
- Compact footprint: 2.98 in diameter and about 0.58 in overall depth
- Surface-mount installation with a small cable pass-through and a shallow recess for the rear stem
- Active thermal management can reduce brightness when run out of the water for extended periods
- Operating temperature range: -31 F to 131 F (-35 C to 55 C)
Variants
SeaBlaze Mini is offered in multiple configurations to match the look and control style you want at the transom.
The main differences are light color and output behavior (single-color non-dimming versus RGBW), along with whether the package is sold as a pair.
- 101832: RGBW (690 lm), Pair No. This version supports full-color RGBW control and can integrate with compatible Lumitec PLI lighting control systems.
- 101246: Blue Non-Dimming, Pair Yes. Blue output stays at a fixed intensity and is commonly used for atmosphere and water clarity around the stern.
- 101245: White Non-Dimming (890 lm), Pair Yes. White output is a crisp 6500K and works well for general transom illumination and nighttime visibility in the water.
Installation and setup
Plan the mounting location before drilling and confirm there is no interference with engine trim, rudder swing, trim tabs, or swim platform hardware. Mounting on running surfaces is not recommended.
For best results, place the light about 6 to 12 in (15 to 30 cm) below the waterline. Mounting deeper than 30 in (75 cm) below the waterline is not recommended.
Seal every penetration thoroughly and bed the back surface with a quality polyurethane marine sealant to keep water out of the core and wiring chase.
Electrical and system integration
Wire the light to a properly fused or breaker-protected circuit. Typical draw for the single-color versions is about 990 mA at 12V or 450 mA at 24V, so plan wiring and protection with voltage drop in mind.
Non-dimming versions are intended for simple on and off control. The RGBW configuration supports color control when used with compatible Lumitec control hardware and settings.
Maintenance and care
Inspect the sealant line, fasteners, and wiring regularly, especially after the first few trips and after haul-outs. Keep bonding and onboard DC grounds in good order, since stray current and poor bonding can accelerate corrosion around underwater metal hardware.
If you paint the transom, only use coatings that are explicitly safe for aluminum on and around the housing. Avoid antifouling paints that are not aluminum-safe within about 1 in (2.5 cm) of the light.
