Overview
The Blue Sea Systems 8410 is a 120/240V AC digital meter panel for boats with a 60Hz single-phase three-wire AC system. It works with the matching Blue Sea AC digital multimeter to monitor Line 1 to neutral, Line 2 to neutral, Line 1 to Line 2 voltage, and 120V and 240V current from one meter position. The panel face measures 5-1/4 x 3-3/4 inches, and it includes two additional current transformers. The meter itself is not included.
The panel is made from 1/8 inch 5052-H32 aluminum and finished with a chemical treatment under a graphite textured polyurethane coating. It uses Blue Sea's traditional metal panel format, so it fits well in extension panels and replacement panel work where you want to add AC system monitoring without rebuilding the whole electrical panel.
Key features
- Built for 120/240V AC 60Hz single-phase three-wire systems
- Lets one digital multimeter read Line 1 or Line 2 to neutral and Line 1 to Line 2 voltage
- Supports current monitoring for both 120V and 240V loads
- Includes two additional current transformers for the monitoring setup
- 5-1/4 x 3-3/4 inch panel size with 4-7/16 x 2-15/16 inch mounting centers
- 1/8 inch 5052-H32 aluminum panel with a graphite textured polyurethane finish
- Panel only; the digital multimeter is sold separately
Compatibility and fit
This panel suits boats that bring aboard 120/240V AC from shore power or a generator through a single-phase three-wire system. It is a sensible fit when you want one meter location to check both AC legs and keep track of mixed 120V and 240V loads on board.
It is not the right panel for systems that use two separate 120V shore cords feeding separate load groups. For correct 240V load-current monitoring, the distribution layout also needs the 240V loads placed downstream of the 120V loads in the meter wiring scheme.
Installation and setup
Choose a mounting location that stays protected on both the front and back of the panel. If either side may be exposed to water, add a waterproof shield. This panel is not ignition protected, so it should not be mounted in gasoline engine rooms, battery compartments, or any area where flammable vapors can collect.
When installed correctly, it complies with applicable ABYC standards and recommended practices as well as USCG 33 CFR Subpart 1. That matters most on refits and replacement work where panel location, wiring layout, and safe access around the AC system need to be checked before the panel goes in.
