Overview
The Lumitec Nautilus Piling Light is an above-water dock and piling light that mounts on posts, pilings, and bulkheads to put useful light right where people step, tie up, and move lines. It runs on 12V or 24V DC power and carries an IP67 seal for rain, spray, and washdowns.
The body is about 4.2 in tall by 1.8 in wide, with roughly 2.1 in of projection off the mounting surface, which helps it fit cleanly on narrow pilings and trim boards. Finish options include hand-polished 316 stainless steel or hand-polished bronze, with output choices that include warm white and Spectrum RGBW.
PLI and TTP support make it straightforward to integrate into common dock lighting setups, including Mantis dock light kits and Kraken dock light systems. It is also compatible with the Lumitec POCO system.
Key features
- 12V to 24V DC operation for typical dock power and vessel DC systems
- Current draw up to 0.50A at 12V DC and 0.25A at 24V DC for practical circuit and fuse planning
- IP67 sealed construction for exposed mounting locations on docks and pilings
- Surface-mount format with an adapter that suits curved or flat mounting surfaces
- PLI and TTP support for control integration, including timed on and off toggling behavior where supported by the selected output
- Compatible with the Lumitec POCO system
- Housing finish options in hand-polished 316 stainless steel or hand-polished bronze
Variants
Nautilus Piling Light is offered in multiple configurations to match the look of the dock hardware and the kind of light you want at night.
Across the range, the housing finish varies between stainless steel and bronze, and the light output varies between warm white and Spectrum RGBW. On Spectrum RGBW versions, the white channel is specified as cool white or warm white.
What’s included
- Nautilus Piling Light
- Surface-mount adapter for curved or flat mounting surfaces
Installation and setup
This light mounts on the surface of a piling, post, or bulkhead. Plan the wire route first so the supply wires can pass through the mounting surface cleanly. A 0.50 in (12.7 mm) pass-through hole is used for the power wires.
For dock installs in saltwater, it helps to seal the wire entry and any fastener penetrations so moisture does not wick into the structure. Leave enough service loop behind the fixture so the light can be removed later without cutting the wiring.
Electrical and control integration
Connect red to +12V DC or +24V DC and black to negative. Install the light on a protected circuit with an appropriately sized fuse or breaker. The listed maximum draw of 0.50A at 12V DC and 0.25A at 24V DC gives a realistic number for circuit planning when multiple lights share a feed.
When using Spectrum RGBW versions, timed on and off toggling can be used for basic control without adding separate control modules. For larger systems, PLI and POCO compatibility support integration alongside other Lumitec fixtures, and the form factor also fits into dock-focused setups such as Mantis kits and Kraken systems.
Materials and corrosion resistance
Choose stainless steel when you want a bright, polished hardware look that matches rails and cleats, or bronze when you want a darker finish that blends with traditional dock fittings. In either case, rinsing with fresh water after heavy salt exposure helps keep the finish looking consistent.
Use cases on board
This style of light is a good fit for dock owners and boaters who want defined edges and safer footing at night around pilings, finger piers, and seawalls. It also works well when you want a wash of light along a bulkhead without installing larger flood-style fixtures.
Maintenance and care
Periodically check that the mounting fasteners stay snug and that the wire entry remains sealed. Clean with mild soap and water and avoid harsh abrasives that can dull a polished finish over time.
