Overview
The Lumitec Rail2 is a low-profile LED utility light bar for boats that need clean, even light along a rail, under a hardtop, under gunwale, or inside lockers and compartments. It runs on 10-30 VDC so it works on both 12 V and 24 V systems, and the housing is IP67 rated for wet areas and washdowns.
This family includes a 12" Rail2 and a 6" Mini Rail2. The 12" body measures 11.72" long, 1.11" tall, and 0.60" deep, while the 6" body is 5.90" long with the same 1.11" height and 0.60" depth. Output and control depend on the configuration, ranging from warm white task lighting to multi-color and full Spectrum RGBW options.
Light output varies by length and color choice. In 12" versions, warm white output is around 800 lumens, and three-color or Spectrum RGBW versions are about 900 lumens. In 6" versions, output ranges from about 95 lumens for warm white up to about 330 lumens for Spectrum RGBW.
Key features
- 10-30 VDC input for 12 V and 24 V DC systems
- IP67 rated sealing for exterior mounting and frequent washdowns
- Two lengths: 12" (11.72" overall) and 6" (5.90" overall), both about 1.11" tall and 0.60" deep
- Color choices across the range include white, warm white (3000 K), red, blue, two-color, three-color, and Spectrum RGBW
- Power draw depends on configuration: about 4 W for 6" models and about 11-12 W for 12" models
- Third-party dimmer compatibility varies by configuration; match dimming method to the output you are selecting
Variants
Rail2 is offered in multiple configurations that change the light color output and the physical length. Options include 6" and 12" housings, with single-color, multi-output, and Spectrum RGBW selections.
Because color and control method vary by configuration, confirm the selected light color option matches how you plan to use the light on board, and plan wiring and switching accordingly. Electrical draw also varies between the 6" and 12" sizes and between single-color and multi-color versions.
Compatibility and fit
Measure the space where the light will sit and check that the housing length clears nearby hardware like rod holders, hinges, or grab rails. The 12" housing uses mounting points spaced about 10.51" apart (center to center), and the 6" housing uses mounting points spaced about 4.69" apart (center to center).
Both sizes keep a low profile at about 0.60" deep, which helps when mounting under a hardtop lip, beneath gunwales, or inside cabinets where clearance is tight.
Electrical and system integration
Plan for a fused DC feed sized for the number of lights on the circuit. At 12 VDC, 12" models draw roughly 0.88 A to 1.3 A depending on output, and 6" models draw roughly 0.36 A to 0.51 A. At 24 VDC, draw is roughly 0.43 A to 0.60 A for 12" and 0.18 A to 0.20 A for 6".
On two-color and multi-output versions, switching and dimming behavior can be handled with the light's internal control logic, so a simple on/off toggle sequence can step through modes on compatible models. When using an external dimmer, verify that the selected configuration supports third-party dimming.
Use on board
Warm white configurations suit cabins, galleys, and under-cabinet lighting where a softer tone helps at night. Red and blue outputs are common for preserving night vision in the cockpit, helm area, or on deck during offshore runs, and Spectrum RGBW versions make it possible to match accent lighting across a boat with other RGBW fixtures.
This is a good match for owners rigging a 12 V or 24 V boat who want a slim light bar that can be mounted in exposed areas without worrying about spray, while still keeping the option of single-color or multi-color lighting depending on the space.
Maintenance and care
Rinse the fixture after heavy salt exposure and keep the lens clear of wax or harsh solvents that can haze plastics. Check wire strain relief and fasteners periodically in high-vibration spots like T-tops and hardtops.
