Overview
The Garmin Navionics The Gulf & Red Sea is an electronic chart coverage option for the Arabian Peninsula, the Red Sea, and the Persian Gulf, including the Suez Canal, the Gulfs of Aden and Oman, plus the coasts of Iran and Pakistan. The region includes detailed areas such as Port Said, Djibouti, Dubai, Bahrain, and Karachi.
This coverage is offered in two versions for compatible Garmin chartplotters: Garmin Navionics+ (chart code NSAW010R) and Garmin Navionics Vision+ (chart code NVAW010R). Both versions support daily chart updates during the included one-year subscription and add planning tools like Auto Guidance+ and depth range shading (up to 10 depth ranges) that help you set up the chart view the way you navigate.
Key features
- Coverage for The Gulf & Red Sea region, including the Arabian Peninsula, Red Sea, Persian Gulf, Suez Canal, Gulfs of Aden and Oman, and the coasts of Iran and Pakistan.
- Two chart versions available: Garmin Navionics+ (NSAW010R) and Garmin Navionics Vision+ (NVAW010R).
- Included one-year subscription with daily chart updates using the ActiveCaptain app once the chart is activated.
- Auto Guidance+ route suggestions can factor in your entered safe depth and overhead clearance; it is a planning aid and does not replace on-water navigation.
- Depth range shading supports up to 10 user-selected depth bands, plus shallow water shading for clearer hazard awareness on the chart.
- Up to 1-foot contours are supported where available in the underlying data for the area you are viewing.
- Vision+ adds access to additional premium layers (such as high-resolution relief shading, satellite imagery, and 3D views) when those layers are available for the coverage area and downloaded to the plotter.
Variants
This product is offered in multiple configurations so you can match both the chart version and how you want to receive it.
Versions vary between Garmin Navionics+ and Garmin Navionics Vision+, and delivery varies between a preloaded microSD/SD card or a download that you install to your own microSD/SD card.
- 010-C1229-00: Garmin Navionics Vision+ on microSD/SD, supplied on a preloaded card that you insert into the chartplotter for everyday use.
- 010-D1831-00: Garmin Navionics Vision+ as a download, installed to your own microSD/SD card so the card can be used in a registered compatible chartplotter.
- 010-C1229-20: Garmin Navionics+ on microSD/SD, supplied on a preloaded card that stays with the boat for routine navigation in this region.
- 010-D1831-20: Garmin Navionics+ as a download, installed to your own microSD/SD card when you prefer managing chart storage yourself.
Compatibility and fit
These charts are intended for compatible Garmin chartplotters that support Garmin Navionics+ and Garmin Navionics Vision+ cartography. Before buying, confirm your chartplotter supports the specific format and that it has an SD or microSD slot available for the card you plan to use.
If you are considering the download format, plan on having a suitable microSD/SD card available and access to a computer for the install process. A single microSD/SD card is used for a single chart installation.
Installation and updates
For the microSD/SD option, insert the chart card into the chartplotter to access the mapping. For the download option, install the chart to your own microSD/SD card using Garmin Express, then insert that card into the chartplotter.
The included one-year subscription enables daily chart updates and access to downloadable content during the subscription period using the ActiveCaptain app. Charts and any content downloaded during the subscription period remain on the card, but additional downloads require an active subscription.
Use on board
This coverage makes sense for boats that routinely run the Red Sea, the Gulf, and adjacent approaches where having current charts and clear depth presentation matters during port entries and coastal passages. It is also a good fit for crews who plan routes on the plotter and want depth-based shading and Auto Guidance+ route suggestions as part of their workflow.
