Overview
The Garmin 12-Pin Transducer Y-Cable Port/Starboard is a 12-pin Y-cable that lets you connect a port and starboard pair of compatible transducers to one sonar unit transducer port. It is used when you want left and right SideVü coverage from two separate transducers, which helps reduce the blind spots you can get from an outboard lower unit, keel, or hull features. This cable family is offered in 2 m and approximately 10 m (32.81 ft) lengths to match short or longer helm-to-transducer runs.
Signal routing matters with this setup. The starboard leg carries Traditional, ClearVü, and right SideVü, and it is also the side that carries water temperature and transducer ID. The port leg is used for left SideVü.
Key features
- 12-pin Y-cable for connecting a port and starboard transducer pair to a single sonar unit transducer port
- Splits left and right SideVü across two transducers to help avoid engine lower unit or keel shadowing
- Starboard leg: Traditional, ClearVü, right SideVü, plus water temperature and transducer ID
- Port leg: left SideVü
- Compatible with 12-pin GT transducers in transom-mount or thru-hull styles
- Cable legs are marked for PORT and STARBOARD connections
Variants
This product is offered in multiple configurations.
The difference between variants is cable length, which affects how much slack you have for routing from the sonar unit to the transducers.
- 010-12225-10: Length 2 m. A shorter run that suits installs where the sonar unit and transducers are relatively close, such as many console-to-transom layouts.
- 010-12225-00: Length 32 ft (approximately 10 m / 32.81 ft). Extra length for longer routes, including larger boats or installations that need to follow existing wire chases.
Compatibility and fit
This cable is intended for systems using 12-pin GT transducers and a sonar unit with a 12-pin transducer port. It is commonly used for SideVü setups that place one transducer on the port side and one on the starboard side so each side-scan view has a clean line past the engine and hull features.
Because the starboard side carries water temperature and transducer ID, plan your transducer placement and connections with that in mind if you rely on temperature readings at the helm.
Installation and setup
Route the cable so it is supported and protected where it passes through rigging tubes, bulkheads, and splashwell areas. Leave a gentle service loop near the connectors, and avoid tight bends at the backshells so the pins are not stressed over time.
On transom installs, position the port and starboard transducers so they have clean water flow and similar depth relative to the hull bottom. On thru-hull installs, keep the two transducers aligned as a matched port/starboard pair so left and right SideVü views read consistently.
Use on board
This setup is a practical fit for outboard and sterndrive boats where the lower unit blocks part of a one-transducer SideVü view, and for hulls where a keel or strake can cast a shadow to one side. It also suits anglers who want more consistent side imaging when working structure along both sides of the boat.
Maintenance and care
Keep connectors clean and dry when unplugged, and protect them from spray during service work. If the cable is routed in high-movement areas, check it periodically for chafe points and re-secure clamps or ties so the run stays quiet and strain-free.
