Overview
The Hella Marine 014566111 is a low-profile LED warning light bar that throws a 360-degree amber signal on 10 to 30 V DC systems, so it works on both 12V and 24V boats.
This is the Micro Lightbar size with a clear dome and bracket mounting. It measures about 255 mm long by 156 mm wide and stands roughly 49 mm tall, and it weighs about 691 g, which helps it fit on a hardtop, cabin roof, radar arch, or equipment rack. Power draw is up to about 70 W (around 6.2 A at 12 V or 2.9 A at 24 V), and the housing and dome are polycarbonate with polarity-reversal protection. Ingress protection ratings include IP6X and IPX9K for heavy spray and high-pressure washdowns.
The selectable patterns include flashing and rotating modes. This type of light is used as an attention signal during towing, dock operations, deck work, and other situations where an amber warning beacon is appropriate. It is not a navigation light and it should not be used in place of required running lights.
Key features
- Multi-voltage 10 to 30 V DC input for 12V and 24V electrical systems
- 360-degree amber warning output through a clear lens
- User-selectable patterns, including flashing and rotating modes
- Up to about 70 W draw, with typical current around 6.2 A at 12 V or 2.9 A at 24 V
- Polycarbonate dome and housing with polarity-reversal protection and vibration protection
- Protection class listed as IP6X, IPX4K, and IPX9K for dust and water spray, including high-pressure cleaning
- Bracket mounting configuration with a stainless steel mounting bracket and foam foot cushions to protect the mounting surface
- Type approval and EMC notes: SAE J845 Class 1, ECE-R10, CISPR 25 Class 3
- Operating temperature range from -40 C to +65 C
Installation and setup
Mount the bracket on a flat, solid surface with enough clearance for a full 360-degree view. On boats, that usually means above head height on the hardtop, cabin roof, or an arch so antennas and rails do not block the signal.
Plan wiring before you drill. Fixed-mount versions use a short lead (about 500 mm), so most installs land in a nearby junction box or under the headliner and then run a longer marine-grade cable back to the DC distribution. Protect the circuit with an appropriately sized fuse or breaker at the power source and switch it from the helm or a dedicated work panel.
After the first few trips, recheck fasteners and cable support. Keeping the wiring strain-relieved matters on a boat where vibration and shock loads are routine.
Compatibility and fit
Because it runs on 10 to 30 V DC, it can be wired into typical 12V center consoles and 24V commercial rigs without a converter. If you are adding it to a mixed-voltage boat, confirm the feed you are tapping matches the control switch and breaker panel.
With a footprint around 255 mm by 156 mm and a low overall height, it fits where full-size roof beacons do not. Keep it out of direct line-of-sight at the helm to avoid night glare, and leave room to remove the unit later for service.
Use cases on board
This light makes sense for operators who need an amber attention signal for dock work, towing, patrol duties, or deck operations on workboats and tenders. It also works well on fishing boats that raft up or work gear at night and want a clear warning signal for nearby traffic, while still keeping proper navigation lights on.
Maintenance and care
Rinse salt off after use and clean the polycarbonate dome with mild soap and water. Avoid strong solvents and aggressive polishing compounds that can haze plastics. If the light sees regular washdowns, inspect the mounting surface seal and the cable entry point as part of your seasonal checks.
