Overview
The Garmin 010-12881-02 is a fixed marine mount with a hardwired power cable for installing a compatible handheld on a console, helm, or bulkhead where it stays put underway. The cable comes as bare wires for power, audio, and data connections, which helps when you are tying into existing boat wiring and want to avoid bulky plug adapters behind the panel.
This mount is called out for portrait use with Montana 700i and Montana 750i units. The mount body is listed at 4 in wide, 6 in high, and 3 in deep, with a matte black finish that fits in with common dash layouts.
Key features
- Fixed mount format for a clean, hard-installed location at the helm or nav station.
- Power cable with bare-wire leads for power, audio, and data connections.
- Portrait-oriented mounting support noted for Montana 700i and Montana 750i devices.
- Listed mount dimensions of 4 in (W) x 6 in (H) x 3 in (D) for clearance planning.
- Matte black finish that keeps the installation visually low-profile on most consoles.
What’s included
- Marine mount
- Installation hardware
- Power cable with bare-wire leads for power, audio, and data
Installation and setup
Mount it on a flat, rigid surface where the screen is easy to see and the cable can be routed without sharp bends. If the cable passes through fiberglass, metal, or a cutout edge, add chafe protection and support the run so vibration does not work the wiring loose over time.
Terminate the bare wires at your vessel’s DC distribution and any audio or data interface you are using. Leaving a small service loop behind the mounting location makes future removal and re-termination easier without pulling new wire.
Compatibility and fit
Confirm device compatibility before ordering, especially if you are swapping from a different cradle or mounting location. It helps to check the available panel depth for the cable exit and any strain relief so the mount sits flat and the wiring stays protected behind the console.
Use cases on board
This mount is a good match for boats that run a compatible Garmin handheld as a primary navigator at the helm and want a consistent power connection for long days on the water. It also fits setups where the handheld is used for planning below and then moved to the cockpit for navigation and track recording while underway.
