Overview
The Garmin 010-02735-00 is a pre-configured digital switching module that puts onboard switching and monitoring on your compatible GPSMAP or ECHOMAP chartplotter through an NMEA 2000 network. It runs on 0 to 16 Vdc and supports up to 50 A total across active channels, with a 50 A fuse or breaker on the supply feed.
The enclosure measures 229 x 106 x 41 mm (9 x 4 3/16 x 1 5/8 in.) and carries an IEC 60529 IPX65 water rating, so it can live in a locker or console space that still sees occasional spray. Software fuses protect each channel, and you can reset tripped circuits from the chartplotter or with the hard keys on the module.
Key features
- NMEA 2000 connection for switching pages and status data; NMEA 2000 LEN: 0.
- Dedicated power feed required (the unit does not draw power from the NMEA 2000 backbone); protect the feed with a 50 A fuse or circuit breaker.
- Electrical load planning: up to 50 A total across all active channels.
- Input voltage range: 0 to 16 Vdc (fits 12 V nominal systems).
- IEC 60529 IPX65 water rating with a polycarbonate housing; operating temperature range: -20 to 55 C.
- Tank and system monitoring support, including up to four tank level inputs and NMEA 2000 reporting for fluid level and battery status.
- Manual control and troubleshooting on the module via hard keys, including switch overrides and software-fuse resets.
Installation and setup
Mount the module where you can reach it, since some setup steps and fuse resets may be done at the unit. Use a surface that is flat and vertical, and mount it with the wiring-harness connectors pointing down. Keep it out of bilge water and any space where it can be submerged.
Wiring is done through the X1 and X2 harnesses. Plan your wire runs first, use waterproof connectors or waterproof heat-shrink on bare-wire terminations, and insulate any unused leads after installation.
Electrical and system integration
Connect it to the same NMEA 2000 backbone as your chartplotter so the Switching page can see it. The unit also needs its own power connection, protected by a 50 A fuse or breaker, because the NMEA 2000 connection is for data only.
When you assign loads, keep each circuit within its channel software-fuse rating and keep the combined active load under 50 A. If a channel trips, the software fuse can be acknowledged and reset from the chartplotter or from the unit.
Compatibility and fit
This switch module is meant to be used with compatible Garmin chartplotters that support digital switching on the Vessel switching page and that are connected on the same NMEA 2000 network. Because the power input is limited to 16 Vdc, it is intended for 12 V systems and should not be connected to a 24 V supply.
Allow clearance for the harness plugs and service access. The compass-safe distance is 5 cm (2 in.).
Use on board
Once configured, switching can be handled from the helm for common loads such as navigation and anchor lights, cabin lighting that needs dimming, bilge pumps, livewell pumps, and a horn. Tank level inputs can be mapped to fluid types so the chartplotter can show levels alongside other vessel data.
This setup makes the most sense for boats where you want centralized control at the chartplotter and you would rather reduce a panel full of physical switches. It also fits refits where you want software fuse protection without tearing apart the helm layout.
Maintenance and care
Periodically check harness connections for looseness and signs of corrosion, especially in saltwater environments or high-vibration areas. Keep the module in a space that stays ventilated and avoid directing washdown spray at the connectors.
