Overview
The Perko 0542 is a vented deck fill for 1-1/2 inch fill hose, with an angled neck for installations where the hose needs a cleaner route below the deck. It uses a black polymer body with a polymer cap, and the range includes caps marked for gas or water so the deck fitting can match the system it serves.
This fill is built for deck and gunwale locations on small boats, runabouts, center consoles, and cruisers where a separate vent fitting may not be desired. The integral vent accepts 5/8 inch vent hose, the flange has a 3-5/8 inch outside diameter, and the neck length is 2-7/16 inch. The required mounting hole diameter is 2-1/8 inch, with #8 screws used for fastening.
For gasoline installations, the gas-marked versions meet U.S.C.G. gasoline fuel system requirements under 33 CFR 183, but they are not 40 CFR 1060 subpart B EPA emissions compliant. This makes fit verification important when replacing an older deck fill or matching an existing non-EPA fuel system.
Key features
- Vented deck fill for 1-1/2 inch fill hose, with an angled neck to help route hose below the mounting surface.
- Integral tank vent with anti-surge valve for installations using a 5/8 inch vent hose.
- Black polymer body with polymer cap and polymer strap, so the cap stays attached during fueling or filling.
- Gas-marked versions include a flame arrestor and meet U.S.C.G. gasoline fuel system requirements under 33 CFR 183.
- Ground wire is not required, simplifying installation compared with metal fuel fills that need bonding.
- 3-5/8 inch flange, 2-7/16 inch neck length, 2-1/8 inch mounting hole diameter, and #8 screw size help confirm deck fit before drilling or replacement.
Variants
This product is offered in gas-marked and water-marked configurations, with cap color options used to match the deck layout and make the fill point easy to identify.
The fill hose size, vent hose size, angled neck layout, black polymer body, and mounting dimensions are consistent across these listed configurations. The marked service and cap color are the differences between the variants.
- 0542DPGBLK: marked for gas with a black cap. The black cap gives the fuel fill a low-contrast look on dark trim, black gelcoat accents, or utility areas of the deck.
- 0542DPGWHT: marked for gas with a white cap. The white cap suits lighter decks and keeps the gas-marked fill easier to spot on white or off-white fiberglass.
- 0542DPWBLK: marked for water with a black cap. The water marking separates it visually and functionally from fuel fills while keeping the same black cap appearance.
Installation and fit
Before installation, confirm the deck thickness, hose run, and clearance below the mounting surface. The angled neck helps when the fill hose cannot drop straight down, but the hose still needs a smooth bend without kinking or putting side load on the fitting.
Use marine hose that matches the fill and vent sizes, and secure each connection with clamps suitable for the system being installed. The deck opening should match the 2-1/8 inch mounting hole requirement, and the flange should sit flat against the surface so the seal can work properly.
Use cases on board
This fill is a practical match for replacing an older Perko-style vented deck fill on boats that use a 1-1/2 inch fill hose and 5/8 inch vent hose. The gas variants are suited to gasoline fuel systems that use this non-EPA vented fill style, while the water-marked variant is used where the deck fill serves a freshwater tank.
It works well for owners who want a clean deck fitting with the vent integrated into the fill body, especially on boats where space for a separate vent fitting is limited or where the original installation already used this Fig. 0542 layout.
