Overview
The Perko 0591 is a vented deck fill for boats using 1-1/2 inch fill hose and a 5/8 inch vent hose. It has a straight neck, a chrome plated bronze cap, and a black polymer body, making it a practical replacement or new-install fill for deck locations where the hose run drops straight below the fitting.
This fill combines the deck fill and tank vent in one fitting, with a flame arrestor and anti-surge valve built into the vented cap. The mounting hole diameter is 2-1/8 inch, the outside flange is 3-3/8 inch, the neck length is 2-7/16 inch, and the fitting uses #8 screws.
The cap is retained by a stainless steel bead chain, so it stays with the fitting during fueling or water fill-ups. A deck plate key is not required, which helps keep routine dockside use simple.
Key features
- Vented deck fill for 1-1/2 inch fill hose with straight-neck installation.
- 5/8 inch vent hose connection for integrated tank venting at the fill location.
- Chrome plated bronze cap with black polymer body for exposed deck use.
- Heavy stainless steel bead chain keeps the cap attached while the fill is open.
- Integral tank vent includes a flame arrestor and anti-surge valve in the cap.
- Mounting hole diameter is 2-1/8 inch with a 3-3/8 inch outside flange and 2-7/16 inch neck length.
- Uses #8 mounting screws and does not require a deck plate key.
- DP package includes the mounting ring used to raise the vent opening 3/8 inch in splash-prone installations.
Variants
This Perko 0591 deck fill is offered in separate marked versions for gas, diesel, and water systems. The marking on the cap helps identify the tank service at the deck, which is especially useful on boats with more than one fill location.
The hose sizes, straight-neck layout, chrome cap finish, black body, flange size, mounting hole size, neck length, and screw size remain the same across these listed configurations. The functional difference is the system marking shown on the cap.
- 0591DPGCHR: Marked for gas. This version is used where the deck fill needs to be clearly identified for a gasoline tank, and the gas-marked fill meets USCG 33 CFR 183 gasoline fuel system requirements.
- 0591DPDCHR: Marked for diesel. This version gives a diesel fill point a clear cap marking, helping reduce confusion during fueling on boats with multiple tanks.
- 0591DPWCHR: Marked for water. This version separates a potable or onboard water fill from nearby fuel fills by using a water-specific cap marking.
Installation and fit
The straight neck works best where there is enough vertical room below the deck for the fill hose to run cleanly without forcing a sharp bend. Before installation, confirm the 2-1/8 inch cutout, 3-3/8 inch flange footprint, 2-7/16 inch neck length, and 1-1/2 inch hose size against the existing deck opening and hose route.
Because the vent is built into the cap area, the mounting location matters. The supplied mounting ring raises the breathing vent opening by 3/8 inch and is used where splashed or standing water could collect around the fill. The ring reduces the chance of water entering through the vent, but the fill should not be installed where the cap can become submerged or heavily flooded.
System notes
The gas version is for gasoline fuel systems that use this style of non-EPA vented deck fill and meet the applicable USCG 33 CFR 183 safety standard. This 0591 family does not meet 40 CFR 1060 Subpart B emissions requirements, so it should not be used where an EPA-compliant sealed fuel fill system is required.
For refits, this fill is a good match for boats already using a 1-1/2 inch deck fill hose and 5/8 inch vent hose, especially where the existing installation has a straight hose drop below the deck. It is also useful on small cruisers, center consoles, fishing boats, and sailboats where simple cap access and clear fill identification matter at the dock.
