Overview
The i2Systems Apeiron A1120 is a recessed Tri-Light downlight that gives you three selectable colors from a single fixture using only two wires.
It runs on 9-30 VDC and draws 1.5 W, which works well on typical 12 V and 24 V DC systems when you want low current draw across multiple lights.
The frosted tempered-glass lens spreads a 120 degree full-angle beam for even light without visible LED points, and the sealed construction is rated IP67 for dry, damp, or wet locations on board.
Key features
- Tri-Light operation with three colors in one fixture using only two wires
- Color changes by toggling power off and back on, cycling to the next programmed color
- 9-30 VDC input range with 1.5 W power draw
- 120 degree full-angle beam through a frosted lens for smooth, even illumination
- IP67 sealing for areas that see moisture, spray, and washdowns
- Spring-clip mounting for a 2.75 in (70 mm) cutout
- Trim is about 3.15 in (80 mm) across, with round, square/round, and square/square bezel styles depending on configuration
- Integrated driver with 0-100% dimming support, plus transient protection and reverse-polarity protection
Variants
Configurations vary by bezel shape (Round, Square/Round, or Square/Square), trim finish (Polished Chrome or Brushed Nickel), and the Tri-Light white setting (Warm White or Cool White) paired with Red and Blue.
The electrical rating and mounting dimensions remain consistent across the A1120 Tri-Light range, including 9-30 VDC input, 1.5 W draw, IP67 sealing, a 2.75 in (70 mm) cutout, and a trim size of about 3.15 in (80 mm).
Installation and setup
Plan for a 2.75 in (70 mm) cutout and about 2.39 in (61 mm) of clearance behind the mounting surface for the light body and spring clips. The visible trim measures about 3.15 in (80 mm) across.
Run the wiring before final seating, then push the fixture into the cutout until the spring clips engage and the trim sits flat against the panel.
Electrical and switching
Connect the red lead to a switched 9-30 VDC positive feed and the black lead to DC negative. Do not exceed 30 VDC.
To step through the three colors, cycle power off and back on again. If the circuit is frequently power-cycled, keep in mind the light will advance to the next color after each reset.
Materials and on-board use
The housing uses aluminum with stainless steel trim, and the lens is tempered glass with a frosted diffuser. Polished Chrome and Brushed Nickel finishes help match common marine hardware and interior trim schemes.
This light fits well in overhead and soffit locations such as helms, hardtops, companionways, and cockpit seating areas where you want white light for tasks, red light to preserve night vision, and blue light for low-glare accent lighting.
Maintenance and care
Rinse with fresh water after salt exposure and wipe with mild soap and a soft cloth. Avoid abrasive pads that can scratch the finish or haze the frosted lens.
