Overview
The Raymarine T909 is a compass transducer for Raymarine Micronet instrument systems, linking to the T121 Hull Transmitter so heading data can be sent by wireless link to compatible Micronet displays.
This unit is used where the boat needs heading input within a Micronet setup, with heel and pitch angle measurement up to 30 degrees. At only 95 g, or 0.21 lb, it adds very little weight to the installation, which matters on sailboats and performance-minded vessels where instrument placement and balance are part of the setup.
Calibration is handled from the display, so fine adjustment can be done at the helm or navigation position rather than at the sensor itself. For best results, the mounting location should be checked for magnetic influence before installation, especially near speakers, motors, tools, wiring bundles, or ferrous hardware.
Key features
- Compass transducer for Raymarine Micronet instrument systems
- Links to the T121 Hull Transmitter for wireless data transmission to compatible Micronet displays
- Measures heel and pitch angles up to 30 degrees for useful sailing and vessel attitude data
- Light 95 g, 0.21 lb unit helps keep the installation simple on smaller boats and racing layouts
- Calibration can be carried out at the display, making setup and later adjustment easier from the operating position
- Suitable for a vertical bulkhead mounting location after checking the area for magnetic interference
Installation and setup
The T909 should be mounted on a vertical bulkhead surface in a location that is clear of magnetic influence. A hand-bearing compass can be used to check the area before drilling, which helps avoid heading errors caused by nearby metal parts or electrical equipment.
The transducer connects into the Micronet system through the T121 Hull Transmitter, rather than acting as a stand-alone display instrument. Once installed, heading-related calibration is completed through the display interface, which keeps setup practical for cockpit, nav station, or performance sailing layouts.
Compatibility and use on board
This compass transducer is a good match for boats already using Raymarine Micronet wireless instruments and needing heading, heel, and pitch input in that system. It is especially relevant for sailboats, club racing setups, and compact instrument installations where running additional display cabling around the hull or cockpit is not preferred.
Before ordering, confirm that the vessel has the required T121 Hull Transmitter and compatible Micronet display arrangement. This part is not a general-purpose NMEA compass sensor or a stand-alone electronic compass; it is intended to work as part of the Raymarine Micronet wireless instrument ecosystem.
