Overview
The Attwood Marine 11475-3 is a low profile compact horn for 12-volt D.C. systems, built for boats that need an audible signal without giving up much mounting space. Its housing measures 4 1/2" L x 3" W x 1 3/4" H, with a chrome plastic finish and a sealed sound unit that keeps the installation tidy on exposed areas above deck.
It meets ABYC standards for boats up to 16.4 ft. (5 m) and USCG standards for boats up to 39.4 ft. (12 m). The compact footprint makes sense where a larger trumpet horn would be awkward, including smaller helms, console faces, and deck locations where height and clearance matter.
This is a practical replacement for a worn compact electric horn or a clean new install on smaller recreational boats that already run on 12V D.C. power.
Key features
- 12-volt D.C. electric horn for standard small-boat electrical systems
- Low profile housing sized at 4 1/2" L x 3" W x 1 3/4" H for tighter mounting areas
- Completely sealed sound unit with solid cover and diaphragm
- Pre-wired horn with mounting bracket and vibration-dampening pad
- Chrome plastic finish for visible above-deck installations
- Meets ABYC standards for boats up to 16.4 ft. and USCG standards for boats up to 39.4 ft.
Installation and setup
This horn is mounted above deck and should be placed in an area that is not directly exposed to wave action. Installation uses two #10 x 3/4" stainless pan head screws, with marine sealant applied at the base and around the wire hole.
Electrical hookup calls for 2-conductor 14-gauge wire, a push-button switch, and a fuse holder with a 3.0-amp maximum fuse. That keeps it straightforward for a replacement job when a 12V horn circuit is already in place, or for a simple new horn circuit on a smaller boat.
Compatibility and fit
This horn suits skiffs, runabouts, tenders, center consoles, and other boats where space is limited and a visible low profile installation is preferred. It is also a sensible option when you want to avoid the extra cutout work of a recessed horn or the routing needed for a remote-mount setup.
Before ordering, confirm that your boat uses a 12V D.C. system, that the mounting area accepts a 4 1/2" by 3" footprint, and that the planned location is above deck and out of direct wave impact.
