Overview
The Hella Marine Sea Hawk-XL Dual Colour LED Floodlight is a bracket-mounted deck and spreader work light with a bright white output plus a secondary colour (red or blue), running on 9-33V DC for 12V and 24V systems. The white channel is rated at 750 lumens with a 5000K colour temperature, and the housing is sealed to IP67 for exposed mounting in spray and washdown areas.
It measures 6-11/16 in long x 2-11/16 in wide x 2-9/32 in high, making it easy to fit under a hardtop, on spreaders, or on an aft-facing rail mount where you want wide-area light for docking lines, cockpit work, or deck tasks. The unit is prewired with 2.5 m of tinned three-core marine cable and uses a 316 stainless steel bracket for aiming and secure mounting.
Key features
- Multivolt 9-33V DC input for 12V and 24V systems
- Dual-colour operation: white work light plus a secondary colour (red or blue, depending on variant)
- 750 lumen white output with a 5000K colour temperature
- IP67 rating for fully sealed exterior installations
- 2.5 m tinned three-core marine cable prewired on the light
- 316 stainless steel mounting bracket
- Power draw: 12W (white), 4W (blue), 2W (red)
Variants
This light is offered in multiple configurations to match your preferred housing colour and the secondary light colour.
Across the range, the mounting style, 9-33V DC operating voltage, IP67 sealing, and prewired 2.5 m cable remain consistent. The differences are the housing finish (black or white) and whether the secondary mode is blue or red.
- 980950061: Light colour White and Blue, black housing. Blue light is commonly used as a low-glare accent or for deck ambience while keeping the fixture output available in full white when needed.
- 980950071: Light colour White and Blue, white housing. This configuration is often chosen when you want the light to visually blend with a white hardtop, radar arch, or superstructure.
- 980950041: Light colour White and Red, black housing. Red light is helpful when you want usable illumination while being gentler on dark adaptation during night running or cockpit work.
- 980950051: Light colour White and Red, white housing. A clean look on lighter surfaces, with red mode available for night operations and white mode for task lighting.
Installation and setup
The bracket mount lets you angle the beam where you need it, which matters for spreader mounting and aft-deck placements where glare control is the difference between usable light and a bright spot in your eyes. Plan the mounting point so the light can ventilate naturally, and route the cable to a dry junction point with proper strain relief and chafe protection.
The three-core cable supports separate control of the white and secondary colour modes through your switching arrangement. Keep connections sealed and supported, especially on masts, arches, and hardtops where vibration and constant movement work on wiring over time.
Compatibility and fit
This floodlight suits boats with 12V or 24V DC systems within the 9-33V range. For fit checks before drilling, use the overall dimensions of 6-11/16 in x 2-11/16 in x 2-9/32 in and confirm you have enough clearance to aim the bracket without hitting canvas, antennas, or rail tubing.
Use cases on board
On a sportfisher or bay boat, it works well on a hardtop or aft-facing mount for cockpit rigging and washdowns. On cruisers and sailboats, it is a practical spreader or deck light for anchoring tasks, docking lines, and general work on deck.
A good match for crews who want full white light for task work and a second colour option for night operations or a softer deck presence, without changing fixtures.
Maintenance and care
Rinse the fixture and bracket with fresh water after saltwater use, especially around the bracket hardware. Periodically check bracket fasteners and cable support points so the aim stays set and the wiring stays protected.
