Overview
The Garmin 010-12406-00 is a transducer spray shield that blocks excessive water from spraying off a compatible transducer when the boat is running at higher speeds.
It is used on transom-mounted Garmin side scanning transducers when the install throws a noticeable rooster tail or mist once you get on plane. The shield sits in the flow just behind the transducer area to knock down spray without changing your sonar wiring or electronics.
Key features
- Blocks excessive water spray coming off the transducer when running at speed.
- Made for use with compatible Garmin side scanning transducers.
- Installs at the transom around the transducer mounting area, where spray is created.
- Mounting hardware is included.
- Helpful on boats that spend time on plane, where spray can wet the cockpit or coat the transom with salt.
What's included
- Transducer spray shield
- Mounting hardware
Compatibility and fit
Confirm that your transducer is a Garmin side scanning model and that you have room on the transom to mount a shield without interfering with the transducer bracket, trim tabs, ladders, or the trailer bunks and rollers. If your transducer is mounted close to a strake or step, check that the shield has clearance as the boat pitches and flexes underway.
Installation and setup
Mount the shield using the supplied hardware, then do a short test run and inspect the spray pattern. Small changes in position can make a big difference, so it is worth checking your transducer height and angle at the same time.
Use on board
This is a good match for anglers and cruisers who run at higher speeds and want to cut down on transducer spray that can mist the cockpit, the engine well, or the outboard. It also helps keep salt spray off nearby rigging and gear stored at the transom.
Maintenance and care
Rinse the transom area after saltwater use and check the fasteners periodically, especially if the boat sees a lot of vibration or trailering.
