Overview
The Simrad 000-11247-001 is a 2 m (6.5 ft) NMEA 0183 and touch monitor serial cable for NSO and Zeus systems that use an LTW 8-way connection.
It is an eight-core cable with four conductors allocated to NMEA 0183 and four conductors allocated to RS422 serial. This is the type of harness used when you need both an NMEA 0183 link and the separate serial connection used by supported touch monitors.
The 2 m length is suited to typical helm-to-processor routing on smaller consoles, secondary stations, or tighter equipment bays where you want a neat run without building a custom cable assembly.
Key features
- 2 m (6.5 ft) cable length for short, tidy helm runs
- Eight-core layout: four conductors for NMEA 0183 and four conductors for RS422 serial
- LTW 8-way cable format used on compatible NSO and Zeus installations
- Used for NMEA 0183 and touch monitor serial connections on NSO evo2, NSO evo3S, Zeus2, and Zeus3S systems
Compatibility and fit
This cable is used with NSO evo2, NSO evo3S, Zeus2, and Zeus3S setups where the system supports an NMEA 0183 connection and a touch monitor serial link through the LTW 8-way interface. Before ordering, match the connector type on your processor and the intended touch monitor connection point, since this is not a generic bare-wire NMEA 0183 pigtail.
If you are networking through NMEA 2000, this is not the drop cable for that job. NMEA 2000 uses backbone and drop components, while this cable is for NMEA 0183 and RS422 serial wiring.
Installation and setup
Plan the route based on the 2 m length, allowing for service loops at both ends so the connector can be unplugged without stressing the cable. Support the run so it is not hanging on the connector, and keep it clear of sharp edges and areas that see constant flex.
When running through a helm or electronics box, leave a drip loop where practical and avoid placing the connector where it will sit in pooled water. Like any signal cable on a boat, keep it separated from high-current DC cabling when you can to reduce the chance of noise on the serial lines.
System integration notes
NMEA 0183 and RS422 are serial interfaces that rely on correct pairing and polarity. Use the system wiring references for the exact conductor mapping at the device end, then terminate the NMEA 0183 and RS422 circuits accordingly for your installation. This cable gives you the correct harness for supported systems, but the final wiring layout depends on the equipment you are tying in.
Who this cable fits best
This cable is a good match for helms where an NSO or Zeus processor is mounted away from the display and you want a clean factory-style connection for NMEA 0183 plus the touch monitor serial link. It also makes sense for refits where an existing harness is damaged and you want a direct replacement at the original length.
