Overview
The Simrad 000-11246-001 is an Ethernet adapter cable that lets a Simrad yellow round Ethernet connection interface with a standard RJ45 network connection on board. It is used with Simrad NSO evo2 and Zeus2 displays when you need to join the display to an Ethernet network for sharing radar, sonar, and chart data with other compatible Simrad equipment.
This adapter uses an 8-pin RJ45 male connector on one end and a 5-pin yellow round Ethernet connector on the other. The assembly is non-waterproof, so it belongs in a dry, protected area such as behind the helm, inside a console, or in an electronics locker.
Key features
- Adapter style cable with RJ45 male (8P8C) on one end and a 5-pin yellow round Ethernet connector on the other
- Used to network Simrad NSO evo2 and Zeus2 displays over Ethernet
- Non-waterproof construction intended for protected connections inside the boat
- Connects into standard Ethernet cabling or a network switch without re-terminating connectors
- Supports typical Ethernet sharing between compatible Simrad displays and networked modules
Compatibility and fit
This adapter is for Simrad installations that use the yellow round Ethernet connector style on the display side. The RJ45 end plugs into any standard Ethernet jack on your network, such as a switch, router, or an RJ45 coupler on an extension lead.
It is not an NMEA 2000 or NMEA 0183 cable. If your system is built around waterproof RJ45 bulkhead fittings or a different Simrad Ethernet connector style, confirm the connector type at the display and on the existing Ethernet cable run.
Installation and setup
Plan the run so the RJ45 connection stays dry and strain-relieved. In areas that see washdowns or spray, keep the RJ45 junction inside a sealed box and route cables so water cannot drip along the cable into the connector.
Leave a small service loop at the display so you can pull the unit for updates or troubleshooting without putting tension on the connectors.
Network use on board
This cable is a practical fit when you are adding a second station, tying in radar or sonar modules, or relocating a network connection without changing the display-side Ethernet connector. It suits boats where the main Ethernet backbone is already built with standard RJ45 patch leads and you need a clean interface to the Simrad yellow connector.
