Overview
The Attwood Marine 3876-3 is a scupper valve for boats with self-bailing cockpits. It uses an acetal body, measures 2-7/8 inches in diameter, and fits the Attwood 3875B thru-transom thru-hull connector.
It replaces the valve used with the 3881 thru-transom scupper and is intended for above-the-waterline installation only. In use, the flapper opens to let cockpit water drain overboard and closes back to help reduce water coming in through the outlet.
Key features
- 2-7/8 inch scupper valve sized for self-bailing cockpit drains
- Fits the Attwood 3875B thru-transom thru-hull connector
- Replacement valve for the Attwood 3881 thru-transom scupper
- Acetal construction
- Flapper-style valve that opens for drainage and closes back at the outlet
- Screw holes are drilled during installation
- For above-the-waterline installation only
Compatibility and fit
This valve is for transom drain setups built around the 3875B connector or older 3881 scupper assemblies. It is a direct match when the existing drain uses the same 2-7/8 inch Attwood valve format.
It is a sensible replacement when the original scupper valve has become worn, no longer swings freely, or no longer closes cleanly at the cockpit drain outlet.
Installation and use
Installation requires drilling the screw holes for the valve. Because this part is used above the waterline, it belongs on self-bailing cockpit drains and similar transom drainage points, not on below-the-waterline thru-hull openings.
This suits boats that rely on gravity drainage from the cockpit, including many center consoles, fishing boats, and other layouts with self-bailing deck areas.
