Overview
The Attwood Marine 3886-3 is a white plastic thru-hull fitting with an integrated strainer for 3/4 in. inner diameter hose. It is used where an aerator pump needs a clean water path and some protection from debris before it reaches the pump.
This fitting uses an acetal body and installs through a 1-1/16 in. to 1-1/8 in. hole. The strainer threads onto the section beyond the external retaining nut, so it screens the intake without changing the basic thru-hull layout.
It is a practical match for above-water-line plumbing on smaller boats and fishing setups with aerator or livewell systems. The built-in screen helps cut down on grass, scale, and floating debris that can block flow and make pumps work harder than they should.
Key features
- Fits 3/4 in. I.D. hose for common aerator and livewell plumbing runs
- Integrated strainer helps keep debris out of the pump intake
- Acetal construction for a lightweight plastic fitting that suits wet marine environments
- White finish works well on many transoms, wells, and interior hull surfaces
- Installs in a 1-1/16 in. to 1-1/8 in. mounting hole
- Made for above-water-line thru-hull use
- Strainer mounts to the exposed threads beyond the retaining nut
Installation and fit
Before ordering, confirm that your hose measures 3/4 in. inner diameter and that your mounting location accepts the stated hole size. This is the main fit check for replacing an older aerator thru-hull or setting up a new line on a baitwell or livewell system.
Because the strainer sits on the outside, it helps when the intake is exposed to weeds, bait tank debris, or dockside growth. The strainer is not a replacement for the thru-hull connector nut, so installation should follow the normal thru-hull hardware arrangement.
Compatibility and use
This part makes sense for boaters running simple aerator plumbing where a compact screened thru-hull is easier to service than adding a separate external pickup or inline screen. It suits small fishing boats, skiffs, jon boats, and similar setups where above-water-line intake routing is part of the system layout.
If you are replacing an existing fitting, check hose size, mounting hole size, and the location on the hull or transom before purchase. Matching those points matters more here than brand-to-brand appearance, especially when space around the outside nut and strainer is limited.
