Overview
The Jabsco 12210-Series is a self-priming bronze flexible impeller pump with a 115 Volt AC motor for utility pumping around the boat, dock, shop, or service area. It is built around a bronze pump body, a lip type seal, a stainless steel shaft, and 3/8 inch internal pipe thread ports with adaptors for 3/4 inch garden hose thread.
This pump suits jobs such as washing down decks and docks, moving water for ship service supply, and pumping crankcase oil when the correct impeller material is selected. It is an AC utility pump rather than a 12V or 24V DC onboard pump, so it fits installations or service use where 115 Volt AC power and a grounded three-prong connection are available.
Performance is practical for small transfer and washdown tasks, with approximate flow of 3.4 GPM at 10 feet of head and 2.0 GPM at 40 feet of head. The pump can create suction lift approaching 5 feet when dry and up to 20 feet when primed, provided the suction line is airtight.
Key features
- Bronze pump body with a stainless steel shaft for utility pumping in marine and dockside environments.
- 115 Volt AC motor with replaceable brushes, a 6 ft cord, and a three-prong grounding plug.
- 3/8 inch internal pipe thread ports with adaptors for 3/4 inch garden hose thread.
- Self-priming operation with suction lift approaching 5 ft when dry and up to 20 ft when primed.
- Approximate head-flow performance of 3.4 GPM at 10 ft, 3.2 GPM at 20 ft, 2.9 GPM at 30 ft, and 2.0 GPM at 40 ft.
- Available with neoprene or nitrile impeller material, matching the pump to water-focused service or oil-resistant service.
- Intermittent-duty operation for transfer, drainage, washdown, and service jobs that run for limited periods.
Variants
The 12210-Series is offered in two configurations that differ by impeller material and temperature range. The pump body, AC motor format, porting, and general self-priming layout remain consistent across the two listed versions.
The neoprene version is suited to general water and utility pumping. The nitrile version adds oil resistance for service tasks such as crankcase oil transfer, while keeping the same upper temperature rating.
- 12210-0001: Neoprene impeller, temperature range 45°F to 180°F. This version fits general water movement, deck and dock washdown, and other non-oil utility pumping tasks.
- 12210-0003: Nitrile oil-resistant impeller, temperature range 50°F to 180°F. This version is the better match when the pump will be used for oil-related service work such as crankcase oil transfer.
Installation and setup
The pump may be mounted at any angle without loss of efficiency, although horizontal mounting or pump-head-down mounting is the usual setup. When looking at the end cover, the inlet port is on the right-hand side.
Keep the suction side airtight, because air leaks reduce priming and lift. The pump depends on the pumped liquid for impeller lubrication, so it should not be run dry for more than 30 seconds.
Use on board
This is a useful pump for boat owners, yards, and service crews who need a compact AC utility pump for periodic transfer jobs rather than a permanently wired DC bilge or freshwater pump. It is a good fit for dockside washdown, draining, filling, and maintenance work where the vessel or work area has safe access to 115 Volt AC power.
Maintenance and care
Flush the pump with water after use or at the end of the work day, especially after moving liquids that can leave residue in the pump body. In freezing weather, drain the unit by loosening the end cover plate so trapped liquid does not damage the pump.
