Overview
The Attwood Marine 1607-1 is a straight black fuel tank vent for boats that use 5/8 inch I.D. vent hose. It has a splash-resistant polypropylene body, meets ABYC ventilation specifications, and installs in a 7/8 inch hole on hull sections up to 5/8 inch thick.
This vent handles the airflow a fuel tank needs while filling and during normal tank breathing on the water. The straight layout works where the vent line can run cleanly to the hull side, and the polypropylene construction resists corrosion in wet marine service.
It is a practical replacement when an older vent is cracked, faded, or no longer sealing well at the hull. Boats with aluminum construction or owners trying to avoid extra metal hardware on the exterior often prefer this style for the same reason.
Key features
- Straight fuel tank vent layout for installations that do not need an angled fitting
- Fits 5/8 inch I.D. fuel tank vent hose
- Black polypropylene body with splash-resistant construction
- Corrosion-resistant material for saltwater spray and wet cockpit or hull-side locations
- Meets ABYC ventilation specifications
- Installs in a 7/8 inch hole and suits hull thickness up to 5/8 inch
Installation and fit
Before ordering, check the inside diameter of the vent hose, the hull thickness where the vent passes through, and whether your existing setup uses a straight vent rather than a 90 degree body. Those three points matter more than the outside appearance when matching a replacement.
On most boats, installation is straightforward: the vent passes through the hull side, the retaining hardware secures it in place, and the vent hose clamps to the 5/8 inch connection on the inside. This style is a good match where the hose run stays fairly direct and does not need a sharp turn right behind the fitting.
Use on board
This vent suits small powerboats, aluminum boats, center consoles, and similar layouts where the fuel vent exits on the hull side and needs a simple straight fitting. It also makes sense for owners replacing aged plastic vents during fuel system service without changing the hose size or hull cutout.
