Overview
The Blue Sea Systems Push Button Reset Only Quick Connect Circuit Breaker is a panel-mount thermal circuit breaker range for DC branch circuit protection on boats, with amperage options from 3A to 40A. It is used where circuit switching is handled elsewhere, or where the circuit only needs resettable protection, such as electronics feeds, small pumps, lighting circuits, accessory loads, and 24-hour circuits.
Each breaker uses manual push-button reset operation and a thermal trip mechanism, with a maximum voltage rating of 32V DC. The 1/4 male quick connect terminals make it a practical match for Blue Sea Systems WeatherDeck waterproof breaker panels, Dual Battery Bank Main Distribution Panels, 360 Distribution Panels, and other compatible circuit breaker blocks.
The Trip Free mechanism cannot be held on during a fault current condition, which matters in tight helm, cabin, and electrical panel installations where a reset button could otherwise be pressed unintentionally. The breaker is also ignition protected for installation aboard gasoline-powered boats.
Key features
- Thermal trip circuit protection for DC loads from 3A to 40A, depending on the selected variant.
- Manual push-button reset only, suited to circuits where a separate switch or control device handles normal operation.
- 32V DC maximum voltage rating for common 12V and 24V marine DC electrical systems.
- Trip Free operation prevents the breaker from being held on during a fault current condition.
- Ignition protected for use aboard gasoline-powered boats.
- Panel-mount format with 3/8-27 UNS mounting thread for compact breaker layouts.
- 1/4 male quick connect terminals for fast connection in compatible marine electrical panels and breaker blocks.
- Interrupt capacity of 3000A at 14.7V and 2500A at 28V for properly specified DC branch circuits.
- Operating temperature range from -10 degrees C to 60 degrees C for typical onboard electrical spaces.
Variants
This product range varies by amperage rating. The available breaker ratings are 3A, 5A, 7A, 10A, 15A, 20A, 25A, 30A, and 40A, allowing the circuit protection value to be matched to the connected load and the wire size used in the circuit.
The reset style, quick connect terminal format, panel-mount design, maximum DC voltage rating, and ignition-protected construction remain consistent across the range. The selected amperage should be higher than the normal circuit load and lower than the ampacity of the wire it protects.
Installation and fit
This breaker is meant for panel mounting in a marine DC distribution layout. The 1/4 male quick connect terminals help keep wiring work tidy behind the panel, especially in high-density installations where several protected branch circuits sit close together.
For wet or exposed locations, a compatible push button waterproof boot can be used to help protect the reset button area from spray and washdowns. Mounting location still matters: place the breaker where it can be reset without removing gear or reaching into moving machinery, and keep the rear connections protected from strain and accidental contact.
Electrical use on board
These breakers protect wiring, not the equipment itself. They are a good match for boat owners, installers, and service technicians building or repairing DC panels where resettable circuit protection is preferred over one-time fuses.
Use the breaker rating that fits the circuit design, wire gauge, and connected load. In a marine electrical system, the breaker should be sized so it opens during an overcurrent condition before the wiring is exposed to more current than it can safely carry.
