Overview
The Attwood Marine 15232-7 is a pair of quick-release transom tie-down straps for securing a trailered boat at the stern. Each strap is 2 inch wide and 4 foot long, with an over-center buckle that tightens by pressing the handle and releases by lifting it. Used between the boat's transom tie-down points and the trailer, they help limit vertical and lateral movement and reduce the bouncing that can happen in transit.
The webbing is made to handle common trailering exposure to rot, oil, gasoline, and many chemicals. Heavy-gauge S-hooks have a vinyl coating to help avoid marks on the boat or trailer, and the buckle area includes a protective pad that helps keep gel coat and painted surfaces from getting scuffed during transport.
Key features
- 2 inch x 4 foot strap size for rear tie-down duty on larger trailered boats
- Quick-release over-center buckle for fast tensioning and easy release at the ramp or in storage
- Heavy-gauge S-hooks with vinyl coating to help protect the boat and trailer finish
- Protective pad behind the buckle helps reduce contact marks on gel coat and painted surfaces
- Hook-and-loop closure helps keep the buckle handle in the locked position
- Webbing resists rot, oil, gasoline, and many chemicals often found around trailers, ramps, and service areas
Compatibility and fit
These straps are intended for boats that use stern transom eyes or other suitable rear tie-down points together with matching trailer anchor points. The 2 inch width gives a broad contact area, and the 4 foot length suits setups where the trailer tabs and the boat's rear tie-down points are not directly in line.
Before ordering, check the distance from the trailer anchor point to the boat's rear tie-down point with the boat fully seated on the trailer. That is the best way to confirm strap reach and hook placement for your specific hull and trailer combination.
Installation and use
Hook each end in place, remove the slack, and press the buckle handle down until the strap is tight and locked. The protective pad should sit where the buckle could otherwise touch the hull or another finished surface. After a short drive, it is worth checking strap tension again, especially on a newly loaded boat or trailer setup.
This strap set is a good match for boat owners who trailer regularly and want a stern tie-down that tightens and releases without using a ratchet. It also makes sense where gel coat and painted surfaces need a little more protection around the buckle contact point.
