Overview
The Garmin 010-12992-01 is a bail mount with knobs for surface-mounting compatible GPSMAP 9x3 Series chartplotters and setting a comfortable viewing angle at the helm. It fits GPSMAP 923, 923xsv, 943, and 943xsv units.
This mount style is useful when you want the display on top of the dash, on an electronics box, or on a bracket where a flush mount cutout is not practical. The side knobs let you loosen the unit, adjust the tilt to manage glare, and snug it back down for a stable view underway.
Key features
- Compatible with GPSMAP 923, 923xsv, 943, and 943xsv chartplotters
- Bail-style surface mount for flat helm surfaces, pods, and electronics boxes
- Tilt adjustment for dialing in screen angle from seated or standing positions
- Side knobs clamp the display to the bracket for quick angle changes without tools
Compatibility and fit
Match the mount to the exact model number on your display before ordering. Mounts are not universal across all GPSMAP sizes and generations, and the right bracket is the one that matches your unit’s mounting points.
Plan for clearance above and behind the display so it can tilt through its range without hitting a windshield frame, console lip, or throttle binnacle. Leave enough slack in the power and network leads so cable bends stay gentle when you change the viewing angle.
Installation and setup
Position the base where you can see and reach the screen comfortably, then mark and drill the mounting holes for your console or mounting surface. On thin fiberglass, backing washers or a backing plate help spread the load and keep the mount secure when the boat is running.
Once the bracket is fastened down, the display attaches to the bail mount using the side knobs. After wiring, set the tilt where you want it and re-tighten the knobs evenly so the unit stays aligned.
Use on board
This is a practical choice for center consoles, pilothouses, and sailboat nav stations where you want the chartplotter raised off the surface and easy to angle toward the helm. It also suits boats where more than one person needs to see the screen, since the tilt can be adjusted quickly during docking, trolling, or navigation checks.
