Overview
The Garmin 010-11422-00 is a power/data cable harness for the Garmin AIS 600 black box transceiver, combining DC power leads with NMEA 0183 wiring in one run. It supports 12 or 24 Vdc power, includes a 5 A fast-acting fuse on the harness, and provides dedicated leads for AIS data output and control.
This harness is typically used for a new AIS 600 installation, a refit where the AIS is being moved below deck, or a replacement when the original cable has been cut, pinched, or corroded at the terminations. The bare-wire ends make it straightforward to land on a terminal strip or terminate with crimp-and-seal connectors for a cleaner helm and easier troubleshooting later.
Key features
- Power/data harness for Garmin AIS 600 with NMEA 0183 inputs/outputs on bare wires
- Runs from a 12 V or 24 Vdc supply to the AIS 600 transceiver
- 5 A fast-acting fuse on the power lead
- Color-coded power wiring: red is power positive (+) and black is ground negative (-)
- NMEA 0183 transmit pair for AIS output: gray is Tx A (+) and pink is Tx B (-)
- Green speed-select lead supports 38400 baud output by default, or 4800 baud when connected to battery negative (-)
- Yellow power-toggle lead supports on/off control with a simple switch or a compatible Garmin chartplotter accessory-on lead
Installation and setup
Route the harness from the AIS 600 mounting location to your DC distribution and NMEA 0183 junction point, keeping it supported and protected from chafe. On most boats the AIS transceiver is mounted below deck in a dry, ventilated space, with the harness run up to the helm or to an electronics locker.
Connect the red lead to a 12 or 24 Vdc positive feed through the included fused section of the harness, and connect the black lead to battery negative. The yellow lead is used for power control; it can be wired to a single-pole single-throw switch referenced to battery negative, or tied into a compatible Garmin chartplotter accessory-on lead so the AIS 600 follows the helm power state.
NMEA 0183 wiring notes
For AIS data to a chartplotter or multiplexer, connect the gray Tx A (+) and pink Tx B (-) leads to the receiving (Rx) inputs on the NMEA 0183 device. If the receiving device provides only one receive wire, connect it to Tx A (+) and leave Tx B (-) unconnected.
The AIS output is high-speed by default at 38400 baud. The green speed-select lead can be connected to battery negative to limit output to 4800 baud, which can help when integrating with NMEA 0183 equipment that only accepts standard-speed sentences.
Compatibility and fit
This cable is intended for Garmin AIS 600 installations and replacements. Even when the AIS 600 is connected to a NMEA 2000 backbone for data sharing, it still requires DC power through this harness, so plan a proper feed from your boat’s 12 V or 24 V system.
Who this is a good match for
This harness suits boats where the AIS transceiver is mounted below deck and the helm electronics are wired through a central junction, as well as refits where you are replacing aging terminations or rebuilding an AIS 600 installation after a wiring change.
