Overview
The Garmin 010-12152-10 is a 6 ft (1.8 m) 8-pin power/data cable for compatible GPSMAP chartplotters.
It gives you a single harness for powering the display and bringing out NMEA 0183 data connections from the same run. It also supports wiring an external lamp or horn so the unit can trigger visible or audible alerts at the helm.
This is typically used as a replacement cable or for a fresh install when you want the correct factory-style plug at the chartplotter and clean terminations at your power and data junction point.
Key features
- 8-pin power/data connector to match GPSMAP units that use the 8-pin port
- 6 ft (1.8 m) length for short helm and console runs
- Power and NMEA 0183 data leads in one harness to reduce extra cabling
- Supports connection of an external lamp or horn for alerts
- Useful for replacements, refits, and keeping a spare harness onboard
Compatibility and fit
Confirm your display uses an 8-pin power/data connection before ordering. Many marine electronics look similar at a glance, but Garmin units may use different plug styles across series, and this cable only fits models that take the 8-pin power/data plug.
This cable handles power and NMEA 0183 style wiring. It does not replace any separate transducer cable or network cabling you may have as part of your installation.
Installation and wiring
Plan the route so the connector at the back of the display has strain relief and a gentle service loop. Keep the run supported, protected from chafe, and away from areas that stay wet or see constant spray.
Connect power through the correct fuse or breaker for your specific GPSMAP model and keep splices above the waterline. For NMEA 0183 connections, terminate the talker and listener leads per your system wiring plan, and use sealed marine connectors or properly heat-shrunk splices for long-term reliability.
If you are using a lamp or horn alert, wire it in a way that matches the current draw of the accessory, using appropriate switching hardware when needed.
Use on board
This cable is a good match for boats tying a GPSMAP into NMEA 0183 equipment such as a VHF radio or AIS gear, or for replacing a worn harness after a console rebuild. It is also handy when relocating a display and you need the correct length and connector to reach your new power and data termination point.
