The Garmin BlueChart g3 Vision HD VEU492S is an electronic coastal chart for the Finland coastline from Kristinestad to Hanko, with detailed coverage through the eastern half of the Gulf of Bothnia and into the Gulf of Finland.

On a compatible Garmin chartplotter, it adds chart detail plus extra layers and routing tools like Auto Guidance, Depth Range Shading for up to 10 depth ranges, Shallow Water Shading, and high-detail bottom contours down to 1 ft in supported areas. High-resolution satellite imagery can be overlaid on the chart view to help you match what you see on-screen to real harbors, shorelines, and approaches.

Variants

This chart is offered in multiple configurations.

The chart content and coverage area stay the same across the range. The difference is the delivery format: a preprogrammed microSD/SD card or a downloadable version installed to a microSD/SD card.

• 010-C0836-00: Format microSD/SD. The chart comes on a preloaded card that plugs into the chart card slot on compatible Garmin chartplotters.
• 010-D0426-00: Format Download. The chart is delivered electronically and is installed to a microSD/SD card using Garmin Express before it is used in the plotter.

Coverage area

VEU492S focuses on Finland’s southwest and southern coastal waters, spanning from Kristinestad to Hanko. It includes coverage through the eastern half of the Gulf of Bothnia from Kristinestad to Turku, including Pori, and extends through the entrance of the Gulf of Finland to Hanko, including Tammisaari and Salo.

Åland is also covered in detail, which is useful when you are threading archipelago routes where shoals, marked channels, and harbor approaches matter.

Compatibility and chartplotter fit

This is Garmin marine cartography and requires a compatible Garmin chartplotter that supports BlueChart g3 Vision and accepts a microSD/SD chart card. Feature layers and views can vary by chartplotter model and software, so the available options in the chart menus depend on the unit at the helm.

Installation and setup

For the microSD/SD version, insert the card into the chart slot on the chartplotter and leave it in place while you are using the chart. The plotter reads the cartography directly from the card.

For the download version, Garmin Express loads the chart to a microSD/SD card for use in the plotter. Plan on dedicating a card to this chart, since one chart is installed per card. It also helps to keep a separate blank card around for chartplotter software updates so your chart card stays untouched.

Use on board

This chart is a good fit for coastal cruising, island hopping, and port-to-port runs in the Kristinestad to Hanko region, especially when you want extra visual context for approaches and a clearer read of depth bands and contours.
