Overview
The Garmin 010-12106-00 is a step mount for compatible 4-, 8- or 12-pin DownVü and SideVü transducers, letting you attach the transducer to the step of your boat instead of a traditional transom location.
Mounting on the step helps keep the transducer more protected from underwater obstructions and it creates no drag on the boat. It is intended to deliver strong sonar returns at low speeds, which is where step-mounted scanning transducers are most often used.
Because the transducer sits out of the water when the boat is on plane, bottom tracking is not expected at planing speeds.
Key features
- Fits compatible Garmin 4-, 8- and 12-pin DownVü and SideVü transducers
- Attaches the transducer to the boat step for low-speed sonar returns
- Mount helps protect the transducer from underwater obstructions
- Creates no drag on the boat
- At planing speeds the transducer is out of the water, so bottom tracking will not continue on plane
Installation and setup
Step mounting is all about clearance. Before drilling or fastening anything down, check the full travel of the outboard when trimming and turning, and confirm the transducer will not be the first point of contact when loading on a trailer, backing off a lift, or coming alongside a dock.
Route the transducer cable with a gentle drip loop and keep it supported so it cannot slap the hull in chop. Leave enough slack for engine movement if the cable passes near the outboard or steering components.
Compatibility and fit
This mount is meant for boats with a suitable step area where the transducer can be positioned for low-speed scanning without hanging below the running surface. It is compatible with 4-, 8- or 12-pin transducers used with Garmin DownVü and SideVü sonar systems, so confirm your transducer connector style and mounting needs before installation.
Use cases on board
This setup is a good match for boats where a step-mounted scanning transducer is preferred for idling structure, working shorelines, or slow trolling, especially when the transducer needs more protection than a standard transom placement.
Maintenance and care
Rinse the mount area after saltwater use and look it over periodically for loosened fasteners or impact marks. If you trailer often, recheck alignment and cable routing now and then so the transducer stays protected and secure.
