Overview
The Garmin 010-02366-52 is a GPSMAP 923xsv chartplotter and sonar combo bundled with a GMR 18 HD3 radome radar, giving you charting, sonar, and radar on one 9.0 inch IPS touchscreen (1280 x 720).
The display unit is IPX7-rated and runs on 10 to 32 Vdc, which suits typical 12V and 24V systems. For fit at the helm, the housing measures 9.2 x 6.4 x 3 inches and supports bail, flush, or flat mounting.
The included radar is a 4 kW dome with a maximum range of 36 nm and a minimum range of 20 m, and it is also IPX7-rated. The radome runs on 11 to 32 Vdc and measures about 20 inches across and 9 3/4 inches tall, which helps when you are planning an arch, hardtop, or mast mount.
Key features
- 9.0 inch IPS touchscreen display with 1280 x 720 resolution and polarized sunglasses support
- Built-in sonar support for Ultra High-Definition SideVü and ClearVü scanning, plus 1 kW traditional CHIRP capability (transducer required)
- GMR 18 HD3 radar included: 4 kW peak output, 36 nm max range, 20 m minimum range, 5.2 degree horizontal beam width
- Chartplotter power input from 10 to 32 Vdc; radar power input from 11 to 32 Vdc
- IPX7 water rating for both the chartplotter and the radar dome
- Network and integration options: Garmin Marine Network, NMEA 2000, and NMEA 0183 support for common onboard electronics
- One Garmin Marine Network port on the chartplotter for connecting radar and other compatible networked gear
- Receiver updates at 10 Hz for smooth position and speed reporting
- Mounting flexibility at the helm with bail, flush, or flat mounting options
Installation and setup
At the helm, plan for the 3 inch unit depth plus room for cable routing behind the panel, especially if you are flush mounting. Bail mounting is handy when you want tilt adjustment or you are mounting on top of a console, while flush mounting keeps the face clean on a dash.
For the radar, pick a location with a clear view and minimal blockage, and keep it well away from heat sources and other transmitters. The compass-safe distance for the GMR 18 HD3 is 1.2 m, so it should not be mounted close to a magnetic compass.
Electrical and system integration
The GPSMAP 923xsv operates on 10 to 32 Vdc and draws about 1.3 A at 12 Vdc in typical use, with maximum power usage listed at 22 W at 10 Vdc. The radar operates on 11 to 32 Vdc, with typical power consumption of 15 W in standby and 40 W while transmitting, and it calls for a 7.5 A fuse on its power lead.
On the network side, the chartplotter can tie into an NMEA 2000 backbone for engine data, sensors, and autopilot information, and it also supports NMEA 0183 for legacy connections. The radar connects through the Garmin network, so you get radar control and display directly on the chartplotter once the cables are run and the network link is made.
Sonar and transducer notes
This is an xsv model with built-in sonar capability, but it still needs a compatible transducer for on-water sounding and scanning. It supports 1 kW sonar power and includes an adapter cable to help match common transducer connectors to the chartplotter port.
It can also work with Panoptix and LiveScope sonar when paired with a compatible transducer (sold separately). Depth capability depends on the transducer, bottom type, and water conditions.
Compatibility and fit
The chartplotter housing uses polycarbonate plastic with die-cast aluminum, and it is IPX7-rated for spray and washdowns. If you are building out a Garmin system, the combination of Garmin Marine Network, NMEA 2000, NMEA 0183, and wireless connectivity makes it easier to add radar, sonar accessories, audio control, VHF, and AIS components in a single helm layout.
Who this pack fits
This bundle makes sense for boats that want radar at the helm without stepping up to a large open-array, especially on center consoles, small cruisers, and sailboats where dome size and mounting height matter. It also fits anglers who want a chartplotter that can handle traditional sonar plus scanning views, while keeping room to add a transducer that matches how and where they fish.
